Crazy modded JDM cars that look inspired by the Fast and Furious movies might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's hard to argue with a 2JZ swap in any case. This wild third-generation Toyota Supra, spotted at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon, might just be the most radical 2JZ swap out there, though, made all the more awesome by the fact that its engine swap is something of a backdating effort.

Over-Engineered

The legendary 2JZ engine from the MkIV Supra is known for being one of the most over-engineered powerplants ever made, capable of massive power figures with little more than bolt-on mods—no internal rebuilding required. But in this case, the goal was a little more than "massive," it turns out, so the Supra received HKS forged pistons, Tomei connecting rods, and an HKS camshaft, according to Engine Swap Depot.

The Why

The reason that this A70 Supra's owner decided to go the route of an engine swap is obvious—why not? But the internal upgrades clearly became necessary given the rest of the build, which includes two Garrett GTX2871R turbos, plus a Nitrous system that would make Paul Walker tremble with excitement. All those gauges taking up precious console space on the interior no doubt help Taisuke Sakai from T-Get Works, who has owned the car since he was 18 years old, keep track of his baby's health and wellness when a "200 shot from the nitrous system" bumps power from a more pedestrian 650 horsepower up into the 850 range.

On top of the wild engine swap and its concurrent upgrades, the exterior features scissor doors, Acura NSX headlights, a carbon-fiber hood, and staggered wheels. Hilariously, all that power being sent to the rear wheels (unlike a MkIV Supra's all-wheel-drive setup), means that the front wheels measure 20" by 9.5", while the rears measure 15" x 8". Meanwhile, a custom exhaust system was inspired by the Lexus LFA, according to Speedhunters.
