Have you ever fallen in love with the specs of a car but you just hate how it looks? Well, it happens many times than we would like to admit. A facelift gives the car a new lease on life.

Facelifts often involve redesigning the car and giving it technological upgrades. Car manufactures have been known to sometimes use facelifts and relaunch the same car as an improved version. So far, no company has ever admitted to this and it takes a keen eye to recognize subtle differences and similarities in the cars.

Nonetheless, we cannot help to think that some of the cars that are still out in the market need to go back to the design table. Which ones exactly? Well, here are some SUVs and trucks that desperately need a facelift.

9 Acura ZDX (2010–2013)

The Acura ZDX was built to rival the BMW X6. However, when this SUV was unveiled to the public in 2010, it left many jaws dropped – and not for the right reasons. The ZDX looked like a rushed and unfinished project.

Over the next three years, Acura released different variations of the ZDX but none met the standards to come close to rival the BMW X6. In 2013, Acura put an end to the misery that was the Acura ZDX SUV.

8 Bentley Bentayga (2016–present)

One would think that a company like Bentley would be at the forefront of making sure that their cars are all-round perfect. However, that was not the case with this car.

The Bentayga is Bentley’s flagship SUV. Bentley is yet to make any significant changes to the SUV since its launch in 2016. We are always crossing our fingers every year hoping that Bentley has improved on the SUV’s design, or they have finally decided to scrap it out altogether.

It is about time that Bentley realized that the misaligned and crossed eyed headlights no longer cut it for a high-end luxury SUV.

7 Buick Rendezvous (2002–2007)

You do not need to be a car enthusiast to know that the Buick Rendezvous is possibly the ugliest SUV ever. For five years, GM tried to save this SUV but nothing they did was ever good enough.

GM had just survived the Aztek disaster, and they jumped back into the same pond and fished out the Buick Rendezvous. Once bitten, twice shy does not seem to apply to GM’s design team. Many people agreed that the Buick Rendezvous did have a resemblance to the Aztek. It took GM 5 years to discontinue this SUV.

6 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT/GMC Envoy XUV (2004–2005)

For one entire year, Chevrolet decided to take a sip from the fountain of ugly to know exactly what it tastes like. In 2004, Chevrolet rolled the Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT/GMC Envoy XUV. GMC had succeeded one more time in manufacturing the ugliest SUVs in the market.

This SUV was a combination of the Chevy Trailblazer and the GMC Envoy. The Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT/GMC Envoy XUV was designed in a stretched out limo-style, with 16 inches added to the wheelbase. It only took the company one year to realize that this SUV was not working out.

5 Chrysler Aspen (2007–2009)

The Aspen was Chrysler’s introduction to SUVs. This ride was based on the second-generation Dodge Durango. This was not a good place to start since the Durango by itself is a disappointment. For two years, Chrysler dealt with the complications that came with the Aspen before pumping the brakes on it.

A facelift might be what this SUV needs to go head to head with SUVs in the market right now. Moreover, it should not be just a basic facelift. This needs a complete makeover.

4 Chevrolet SSR

This list could not be complete without naming the one truck that needs a facelift more than any other truck in the market - the Chevrolet SSR. The Chevrolet SSR is one of the biggest fails in history.

When it first debuted, GM had hopes that this truck would sell. They could not have been more wrong, The Chevrolet SSR was a two-seater truck that featured a retro-style body. This truck came as a hardtop. All this created a package that nobody wanted. If GM can give this truck a facelift, probably they can have more luck this time.

3 BMW M3 Pickup

Have you ever looked at somebody and asked, “What is going on in that head?” Many BMW customers and enthusiasts asked this question repeatedly after BMW unveiled the M3 Pickup.

The M3 Pickup was BMW’s effort to turn the M3 into a truck. The work on this truck looks like someone took a saw to the M3 and chopped the back off replacing it with low-quality aluminum. To finish what they started BMW needs a miracle facelift to reverse the damage they created.

2 Honda Ridgeline

The 2004 Honda Ridgeline is part of the early 2000s models that Honda wishes to forget. When they first launched this truck in 2004, people mistook it for an unfinished minivan. Although this truck packs the power needed to tackle some of the harshest off-road terrains, it has nothing going for it as far appearances go.

Honda has tried to make changes to this truck, but they are still stuck with the sloppy bodywork, nonfunctional rear passenger windows, and the steep truck bed.

1 Ford Skyranger

This has to be the worst attempt at a muscle truck ever. Imagine driving a convertible truck fitted with a spoiler at the rear of the bed. This truck is rare to come by seeing that only 19 were made. Ford was going through a weird phase during the creation of this truck.

If you look at the Skyranger, it does have the potential of being a classy vintage truck. However, it needs all of the time in the garage for a perfect facelift.
