Liberty Walk’s upcoming 2019 Suzuki Jimny body kit turns the little SUV into a Mercedes G-Class.

Last week, Wald International introduced us to the Suzuki Jimny Black Bison Edition, a total conversion kit that turned the humble Jimny into something more closely resembling a Mercedes G 63. Now, another Japanese tuning house has gotten the same idea.

Liberty Walk is better known for producing insane body kits for even more insane performance vehicles such as the Nissan GT-R. However, everyone loves the new Jimny so much that every Japanese aftermarket manufacturer is coming out with their own take on the tiny ‘ute, with Liberty Walk also taking a page from Mercedes.

They call it the G Mini body kit, and it obviously references the Mercedes G-Class in more than just name. This body kit changes so much of the original vehicle that Liberty Walk held a photo shoot with an actual G-Class just to show how similar to two actually become.

The pictures are usually taken at a favorable angle for the Jimny since the G-Class is twice the size of the tiny Suzuki. However, it’s small stature is enlarged somewhat thanks to much bigger fender flares than the original Jimny came with.

The entire front fascia of the Jimny is replaced, including a new grille, new front bumper, and new headlights. A new vented hood is installed with the characteristic bump in the middle that mirrors the G-Wagen. Liberty Walk replaces the usual Mercedes logo with their own “LB” design right in the center of the grille.

New side mirrors are installed along with a new LED bar on the roof. At the rear, a new spoiler is placed just above the tailgate and new tail lights also take their inspiration from the G-Class.

Nothing changes under the hood of the Jimny, which still has a 1.5-L inline 4-cylinder producing just barely over 100 horsepower and 101 lb-ft of torque. Compare that with the G-Class’s twin-turbo V8 with 416 horsepower, and the Jimny doesn’t compare quite so favorably.

Liberty Walk will debut the G Mini kit at the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 11th.
