The engine equipped on this bike is a 4 stroke, liquid-cooled DOHC Engine. It’s a V-twin with the angle between the banks being at 90° to each other. The fuel supply to the engine is done electronically through the fuel injection system, which injects the fuel directly into the engine. Also, the iridium spark plugs powered by the electronic system have improved the throttle response as compared to the previous versions of the same bike. The lubrication of the engine is handled by the wet-sump from where the oil is supplied to the moving components by the oil pump. With a compression ratio of 11.2±0.3:1, the engine produces 67 HP and 76 lb-ft of torque. The engine has a bore diameter of 81 mm and a stroke length of 62.6 mm. The engine is being cooled by a liquid cooling system for better heat dissipation and optimum performance.

The transmission used here is a 6 speed, manual, sequential gearbox. The new and improved gearbox suits sporty rides with tight 1st through 5th gear ratios, plus a tall 6th for the highway and economy. It is among the cheapest bikes to maintain and is said to have a long life with the help of a sealed O-ring drive chain. The bike has a 5.8-gallon fuel tank, which with its clever onboard computing gives an excellent driving response. Apart from being a brilliant performer, it proves its frugality with a great fuel efficiency of 54 miles to the gallon.

Suzuki is yet to publish the official top speed-related data.

The frame of the bike is an aluminum twin-spar frame. This provides the bike with good rigidity and stability while driving. The design as shown has several ridges to the mainframe elements to provide added support. This gives the rider even more confidence while riding the bike. Suzuki aims the bike to be an adventure off-roader, so it is the best motorcycle for off-road and trail adventures. For this, the frame and suspension components provide the rider with better comfort and control over the vehicle.

Suzuki suggests the bike be serviced every 12,000 km or 12 months whichever comes first. It is fairly easy to maintain this bike. A typical service would include fluid changes, filters being cleaned, the moving components being lubricated, and so on. Suzuki also provides a 2-year unlimited kilometers warranty of the bike. The bike is also easy to be serviced by the riders themselves as all the components are easily accessible and the replacement parts are also easily available in the market. So with the right tools at hand and with the basic skills, the bike can be serviced at home.

The Japanese manufacturer has amassed an extensive following with a splendid line-up of motorcycles. Suzuki is considered among the greatest motorcycle manufacturer because of the reliable and innovative bikes. Suzuki has priced the 2020 V-Storm 650 at $13,590, we expect the 2021 model to be similarly priced. The rivals of this bike are Kawasaki Versys 650, Triumph Bonneville T120, and Kawasaki Vulcan S. These bikes come at the same price range, but the V-Storm has a more reliable engine as compared to the rest and being from Suzuki, it provides customer benefits like better servicing and more at the same price.
