The Dodge Viper is well-known for its ability to scare anyone that jumps inside it. But what if someone doubled its power output?

Earlier in the month, YouTube channel throtl finished its most recent series documenting the build and competitive debut of the world's first Hellcat Redeye-swapped Dodge Viper. Narrowly missing out on a win in the final of Roadkill Nights, it's fair to say the car was a success.

Now, the channel has uploaded a short video going over the build.

The Dodge Viper, A Great Car To Start With

Beginning their build, the throtl team come together around their new purchase, an SRII Dodge Viper, with smiles on each of their faces. Huddling over a 450 horsepower 8-liter V10, you can tell why they're so happy, and a quick drive in the beast is sure to extend those grins.

Unpacking the Hellcat Redeye crate engine has to be a wonderful feeling, while pulling the car apart only to find out a lot of hack sawing is necessary for the engine to fit may have dampened the mood.

In fact, to fit such a young engine into a car designed over 20 years ago is a bigger challenge than one would expect, with none of the mounting points being the same.

With so many teams working on the car at once focussing on different parts of the job, conflicts did arise, notably with the ECU fixing itself to the passenger side while the guys working on the cables hoping the ECU would find itself on the driver's side. A few more tweaks and all the issues had disappeared.

Other issues cropped up later on in the build, however, such as the need for more cooling, the demands of drag racing on pedals, the construction of a totally bespoke exhaust system and making space for the enormous tires the car will use in its drag races.

Liquids in the car and it was time to finally make sure everything was in working order. With weeks of work gone into the build, the team were understandably hoping the car would start first time, and lucky for them, it did. Under the loud screaming and celebrating, you can just about make out the odd V8 sound coming from a Dodge Viper, not something you hear every day.
