For years, Ford occupied a unique niche in the pickup truck market with the F-150 Raptor, which paired massive power with off-road specific upgrades like Fox shocks, aggressive fender flares, and skid plates. Today, Chevy and Ram have caught onto the fact that they'd been left out of the game, releasing trucks like the Colorado in ZR2 trim and the Ram 1500 Rebel, respectively.

But neither really reaches the same level of outright insanity as the Raptor, which has developed a cult following over the past few years. Plenty of aftermarket tuners, however, have stepped up where GM and FCA have failed, cranking out pickups like the recently unveiled Lingenfelter Colorado ZR2 that features a swapped Corvette V8 under the hood.

Big Time

Lingenfelter's recent video post features a white Colorado in ZR2 trim on a dynamometer—but this isn't any average ZR2 undergoing testing. Instead, viewers are treated to the roar of a full V8 swap, in this case an LT4, the same powerplant under the hood of the C7 Corvette in Z06 trim or the Cadillac CTS-V. With a massive supercharger bolted on, that 6.2-liter unit produces up to 650 horsepower from the factory.

Not Good Enough

Of course, both a C7 Corvette and a CTS-V weigh a fair amount less than a Colorado, so Lingenfelter did the right thing and performed the swap with some upgrades, including a pulley kit and ECU tune that combine to bump power up to 720 horses. Even the truck's eight-speed transmission has received a custom map.

Put To The Test

Massive horsepower figures have become a regular sight online these days, so Lingenfelter proved their setup's viability by putting the truck on a dyno. The results are an impressive 534 horsepower and 526 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, which is pretty solid for a truck that should probably weigh under 5,000 pounds, or about 500 pounds less than a Raptor.
