The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro is the extreme, track-focussed version of the already pretty extreme Valkyrie. It is in effect the hypercar that Aston Martin were going to produce to race at Le Mans before it abandoned those plans in favor of its Formula 1 entry. The track only version of the car got a special outing recently at the Bahrain Grand Prix, where it got put through its paces on the Bahrain circuit in a demonstration event, as this YouTube footage shows.

The Screaming V12 Is A Glorious Sound

The Valkyrie AMR Pro is the ultimate iteration of the Valkyrie and that is further enhanced by its 1,000 hp 6.5-liter Cosworth V12 engine. For this track only version, Aston Martin removed the hybrid system to create a naturally aspirated car and to save weight.

The footage of the car on YouTube allows us to hear that glorious V12 engine scream as it is really thrown around the Bahrain circuit. And pleasingly, the car isn’t driven in a tame manner either, and it's good to see that. Though the masses of run-off in Bahrain does mean it's unlikely to hit a wall, the car did spin off.

A Menacing Looking Car

It's difficult to compute that this is actually based on a road car, such is the styling of the Valkyrie AMR Pro, and it looks every bit ready for Le Mans, similar to Toyota and Glickenhaus that are currently racing in the World Endurance Championship.

To further reduce the weight, the car's made up of ultra-lightweight carbon fiber bodywork, as well as carbon suspension wishbones and a Perspex windshield and side windows. It’s a highly impressive car.

What Comes Next For The Valkyrie

The demonstration run of the Valkyrie AMR Pro at Bahrain does allow us to indulge in some speculation. There have been the odd rumor flying around that the car might yet be in line for a Le Mans bid in the future, with Aston Martin apparently considering reviving the hypercar program.

The company could probably do with a boost, as things have not gone quite as well as they would have hoped in Formula 1 since it took over the Racing Point team in 2021.

Perhaps the demo run in Bahrain was an indicator that Aston Martin is considering bringing the car to the track.
