There is no doubt about it—the electric revolution is coming. Manufacturers the world over are unveiling their electric revolutions, and it could be that cars such as the Lamborghini Huracan EVO LP640, with its mighty internal combustion engine, becomes a thing of the past, which is a good segway to what this article is about. What we have here is a video uploaded by DragTimes on YouTube, which shows the aforementioned Huracan go head to head with a Porsche Taycan Turbo S in a drag race battle of EV vs ICE.
Drag Race Battle: Electric vs Internal Combustion
A drag race is perhaps the simplest and most well-known way of taking two cars and seeing how they perform against each other. Usually over a quarter mile run, with both cars running on the exact same track conditions. What the Taycan has in its favor is the smooth delivery of electric power, and how it is instant to the wheels and launches the car down the drag run. That is what the Huracan has to face initially.
What might, and should, happen thereafter is that the Huracan catches up with the Porsche to create a much more even race as they approach the end of the run. So then, what do we see happening as the cars go head to head? Well, first off, let's list the power of the two. The Taycan actually has more horsepower at 750 hp, the Huracan has 630 hp. So this will be an incredibly interesting race.
The EV Future Sure Looks Bright
As might be expected, the Taycan launched off the line, and the Huracan simply did not stand a chance. If anything, it lost out further as the run went on, with the outright horsepower advantage of the electric Porsche very much rising to the fore. However, in a later race, the Huracan did take the honors, but only just as it slowly edged ahead of the Taycan. In the battle of electric vs ICE, it does look like it could be pretty close. But one day, it will simply be a battle of EV vs EV.
