Lexus Japan has posted a teaser video of the 2023 Lexus RZ450e on YouTube. This new EV crossover will officially debut on April, 20.

Sharing components with the Toyota bZ4X, the Lexus RZ450e will go up against the Tesla Model Y in the pursuit of premium crossover customers. Sales in the United States will begin later this year. No word yet on pricing or trim levels.

Lexus Finally Has A Response To Tesla

The video shows a production version of the Lexus RZ450e without camo for the first time. The front end of this EV is identical to the rest of the Lexus crossover family, including the NX and UX.

Lexus has never been the first to enter a segment. But when it does, the luxury brand of Toyota usually becomes a dominant force in that segment. The Lexus RX is an example of that.

The RX first came out in 1998, and it quickly became the sales leader among premium SUVs. It maintained that title for two decades before being overthrown by the Tesla Model Y.

We will soon find out if the RZ450e has what it takes to take on the Tesla. Or any of the other new EV crossovers that premium brands from Europe, Korea, and the United States are bringing out this year.
