SUVs these days are either fun to drive, practical, or good-looking, but the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace is a jack of all trades when it comes to these factors. It has sophisticated Jaguar-like styling, packs in good performance numbers, and is convenient. The car is inspired by the F-type sports car, and for 2022, the F-Pace has received a minor facelift over the previous generation on the outside and the inside. It has been equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, which indicates the imminent future of electrification.

When the Jaguar F-Pace was first launched in 2016, it received praise from people all across the globe for its design, ride quality, and performance. The 2022 Jaguar now comes in with a plug-in hybrid. Sporty styling, expensive interior, five seats, big boot, loads of specs, and tech to choose from, the Jaguar F-Pace is undoubtedly one to watch.

A Plethora of Trims And Engine Options For The F-Pace

First up is the standard F-Pace, and then there is the F-Pace S, which is just cosmetically slightly sportier than the standard F pace. Then come in the F-Pace R dynamic S, R dynamic SE, and R dynamic HSE. All the R dynamic variants can be upgraded to a black pack that blackens out chrome elements on the car's exterior. And lastly, there is a high-performance stand-alone F pace SVR model, which comes with a 5.0L supercharged V8 model. Along with all the mentioned trim levels, there are a ton of engine options, three petrol, three diesel, and the new plug-in hybrid version. Most of the petrol and diesel engines feature a mild-hybrid technology, which also increases the fuel economy. The plug-in hybrid is the one that will win over people's hearts as it offers 30 miles of all-electric range, and fuel efficiency stands at 124.8 MPG.

All trims of the Jaguar F-Pace come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard and all-wheel drive. The standard 2.0L turbocharged unit makes 246 HP. The F-Pace is also available with a turbocharged and supercharged 3.0L inline-six, making 335 HP or 395 HP. The fire-breathing 5.0L supercharged V8 makes 542 HP, and 0-60 MPH comes in at 7.3 seconds for the standard engines, while the supercharged V8 can do the same in 4 seconds flat and reach a top speed of 178 MPH. On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid does 0-60 MPH in 5.3 seconds.

The F-Pace Gets A Luxurious Exterior And Interior

Progressive and assertive, the F-Pace is a great SUV. The Jaguar’s updated exterior gives it a dynamic look. The spacious and luxurious interior has been completely redesigned with exquisite attention to detail and enhanced comfort levels. On the exterior, the changes are very subtle, like the new alloy design with the 21-inch wheels and 22-inch as an option. New headlamps at the front are adaptive, and there is a new design for the tail lamp. The wheelbase is 113.2 inches and overall length 186.9 inches, giving the F-Pace a nice stance and a commanding road presence. The design of the front grille is a bit different too, and the front and rear bumpers have a new design that might go somewhat unnoticed because of how minor the revisions are. The real deal is what is on the inside.

Stepping into the Jag, the first thing which grabs attention is the new infotainment system, and the entire cabin seems to be centered around it. The previous generation car had a very dated interior that did not even offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, however, it is not a concern in the 2022 F-Pace. According to Jaguar, the latest generation of Jaguar Infotainment system is Pivi or Pivi Pro. It is capable of over-the-air updates and is 11.4 inches in size. Another talking point about the interior is how practical and well-sorted it is. The fit and finish, use of leather, and soft-touch materials are just outstanding. Other notable features are heated and ventilated seats, built-in navigation, 14 speaker Meridian Sound system, and a digital driver cockpit.

The car's boot is among the largest in its class at 650 liters for the standard petrol and diesel engine options. The plug-in hybrid system, because of its battery pack, eats in the boot space and leaves just 482 liters of space. There is also no cargo shelf to store in the charging cables, which takes up some space in the boot. The seats can be folded in a 40-20-40 way format, and when all the seats are folded down, the boot space is a humongous 1,740 liters which are sufficient to move an entire house.

The 2022 Jaguar F-Pace has a $50,900 starting price, which is on the upper end of the luxury compact SUV class. The price climbs to $54,000 and $65,500 for the midrange trims, and it soars to $86,600 for the range-topping SVR trim. The F-Pace is positioned in the middle of Jaguar's SUV lineup, between the smaller E-Pace and the all-electric I-Pace. Along with these prices, there are a ton of other customization options like a panoramic sunroof, 22 inches alloy wheels, an updated interior pack, and four-zone climate control. Adding in all these options, the price can skyrocket very easily.

The Jaguar F-Pace was on the verge of being outdated, mainly on the inside, because of its infotainment system and its uninspiring design, but its midlife 2022 facelift has done wonders for the car. The added tech has made a difference to the interior in that, it looks and feels modern and is up-to-date with the industry standards. The addition of the plug-in hybrid and all-wheel drive standard has put the F-pace back on the contention of being a top-class SUV.
