Italy is known for many things: great pasta, scenic coastal city, an intangible cultural heritage, luxury fashion, and naturally, the country has fast and beautiful cars. And while the powerful Ferrari and Maserati are the more famous Italian automaker brands, Alfa Romeo is something like the super-achieving, uber-promising fellow. With a history that stretches over a century, Alfa Romeo is the quintessential Italian brand; it's iconic without being swaggering, luxurious without being arrogant, and mostly timeless and graceful.

The 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale is no exception to the rule, being an elegant compact crossover that stands out thanks to its impressive design, plush interior, unique tech features, and reliability. What’s more, for the 2023 model year, the SUV has been revamped and seriously refurbished, embracing design elements from other Alfa Romeo vehicles, like the Stelvio, for example.

Furthermore, the 2023 Tonale comes in different trim levels; thus, customers can select the option that fits their budget and needs. With that being said, these are the reasons we are excited about the 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale.

Alfa Romeo refurbished and updated the 2023 model, making it look even more lavish. While most consumers will focus on the exterior, where certain elements look too good to be ignored, like the back of the Tonale, which resembles the Stelvio design and the taillights and sexy sharp-nose of the car, the interior is even more impressive.

The heated seats and available ventilated front Alcantara seats with red contrast stitching and Alfa Romeo emblems are a plush touch, and they remind passengers that Italians are the kings of luxury and sophistication.

Meanwhile, the 3D effect is a futuristic touch that brings to light the softness, elegance of the leather, and microsuede surfaces. Elsewhere, the multicolored LED lights create a unique atmosphere inside the cabin and depending on the color of LED lights the drivers selects, the cabin can go from a relaxed look to a more manly, almost aggressive one.

There is also a timeless-looking three-spoke steering wheel with digital controls and the 12.3-inch Cannocchiale digital age cluster, which has a curved design inspired by Alfa Romeo’s “iconic heritage,” according to the Italian automaker. Evidently, there are important differences among the three trim levels: the Sprint, Ti, and Veloce.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also integrated, while other media apps can be customized. If there’s one thing that drivers expect from Italian cars, that’s the best, most luxurious driving experience. Luckily, the 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale doesn’t disappoint. It is worth noting that when it comes to powertrain, drivers can select between two divergent options, although all models have the all-wheel drive.

On one side, there’s the gasoline-powered Alfa Romeo Tonale with the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that generates 256 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and on the opposing side is the optional plug-in electric hybrid, which comes with a turbo 1.3-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor that is mounted to the rear axle. The hybrid will probably generate roughly 272 horsepower.

Meanwhile, the electric battery could deliver 30 miles of electric-only driving range. Considering how much gasoline prices have increased, the hybrid seems as a reasonable option for the daily commute or for individuals who drive a lot, but thus far, fuel economy estimates have not been released.
