EarthRoamer offers up some of the most refined and advanced luxury camping recreational vehicles (RVs) available today, and their newest offering, the 2023 EarthRoamer SX, is no exception. The super-capable all-terrain RV is a solar/diesel hybrid that can go nearly anywhere, ensuring there is no shortage of adventure off the beaten path while still providing the creature comforts of civilization.

After becoming known for its LTi line, EarthRoamer is taking everything up a notch with the SX. The new iteration is the most powerful yet, utilizing an underlying Chevrolet 4WD chassis. Tests on some of the world’s harshest terrain and environments helped to mold the design of the SX exterior, and the company has also updated the luxury interior and increased the efficiency and utility of the RV. With higher capacities, more luxury, and a ton of power, the 2023 EarthRoamer SX is truly a next-level RV that is more than ready to take on anything the boldest adventurer can throw its way.

The 2023 edition of the EarthRoamer debuted at the 2022 SEMA Show and takes the already potent LTi a few steps further. Built on a powerful Chevrolet Silverado 6500HD base, the SX has a 6.6-liter turbo diesel V8 engine paired with an Allison six-speed transmission capable of up to 3,350 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. The usual forty-gallon tank from the Chevy has beefed up to hold 100 gallons of diesel for the SX.

Additionally, the RV features a vacuum-infused carbon fiber camper body and frameless, flush-mounted windows. This helps to ensure that there is minimal damage to the vehicle, even when in motion through rough terrain or with debris hitting the sides, while keeping the overall weight down. The unique process used by EarthRoamer involves using a molded design with no seams and a vacuum infusion process which binds carbon fiber skins to a foam core to enhance strength and thermal insulation while remaining lightweight.

The 43-inch military-grade Goodyear tires on Beadlock rims have an extremely high tear strength and provide amazing off-road traction. Rated up to 81 mph, they work well with the suspension and increased ground clearance of the RV. An air-ride suspension, King off-road shocks, and heavy-duty anti-sway bars have added to the capabilities of the RV and the suspension is adjustable to each independent wheel or axle to allow for better clearance and leveling when stationary.

With LED off-road lighting, the SX is capable at night as well. Each RV comes with a light bar of seven linked 6-inch round lights on the front bumper, driving lights, and fog lights. The rear brake lights are also mounted high for visibility, and the RV includes additional side marking lights. Heavy-duty winches on the front and back are from Warn and rated at 16,500 lbs. They include a remote control for self-recovery efforts.

The overall capacities of the EarthRoamer SX include 100 gallons of fuel, 120 gallons of fresh water, 55 gallons of gray water, two five-gallon cassettes for black water, an 18,000 watt-hour battery, a 7,000 watt inverter charger, 1,600 watts of solar, and seating and sleeping room for up to six people.

The interior of the RV comes in four different floor plans depending on the needs of the buyer. One of these options is Mount Shavano, which offers a larger kitchen area and seats six, sleeps four. The Mount Princeton option offers a smaller kitchen but with more closet storage, seats six and sleeps four. The Mount Columbia option offers the largest kitchen area, a dinette that can convert into four bunk beds, seats six, and sleeps up to six as well. Finally, the Mount Elbert option offers additional closet space, a dinette that can convert into four bunk beds, and sleeps and seats up to six.

As the company boasts, there is “no such thing as a ‘base’ model EarthRoamer,” because they offer updated features and interior luxuries with a variety of premium options on all models. The interior also features vaulted ceilings which increase the spacious feel of the living areas and include premium soft-touch headliners. Cedar lines the closets in order to deter pests and the closets include full-length mirrors, hanging rods, and shelves.

There are plentiful options for storage including under-mattress storage, maple hardwood cabinets, and hardwood dovetail drawers in the rear storage and galley. A hidden biometric safe ensures your valuables will remain secure as well. High-quality materials such as rich leather and professional vinyl flooring alongside fully machined metal push-button latches heighten the luxury experience.

The kitchen and bathrooms are well-outfitted as well. The kitchen features your choice of metal or tile backsplash, stainless-steel sink, retractable sink sprayer, quartz or granite countertops, a double induction burner cook top, a 6-foot stainless-steel refrigerator with an attached freezer, microwave, and more. The bathrooms include a fully enclosed toilet area, walk-in shower, vanity mirror, full-sized mirror, removable shower wand, rain shower head, retractable clothesline, and exhaust fan.

Overall, the luxurious materials, intelligent design choices, ample storage, and smart upgrades of the SX make the RV an amazing buy. Retailing for $995,000 before add-ons (which the company admits will bolster the price up over the $1 million mark) is going to put this luxurious off-roader out of the reach of many. However, the updated and upgraded capacities, hardcore base Chevrolet, and ability to not only find a place off the beaten path but stay there nearly indefinitely make the 2023 EarthRoamer SX a next-level all-terrain RV.
