Automobili Estrema, an Italian niche car brand, is the brainchild of Gianfranco Pizzuto. The company was founded as recently as 2020, and the brand's focus is on high-performance supercars and electric hypercars.

Today's EV market is cut-throat, and the manufacturer intends to aim for the top contenders, like the Pininfarina Battista, for example. With its first fully-electric hypercar for the road, the brand most definitely knows its way up the ladder, and is sure to make the wave of 2022 hypercars sweat. The Fulminea features the latest technologies and super lightweight composite materials.

The logo is a blue shield that reflects the historical tradition of the coats of arms from the past, brought to life in a modern way. The shield comprises a lightning bolt: a symbol of electricity, speed, and clean energy, piercing through it with all its power.

The light blue background with a touch of carbon fiber gives it a slightly technological appeal, and then, there's the lightning bolt that has the colors of the Italian flag. The Fulminea logo is made of polished steel.

The Estrema Fulminea Looks Sharp And Stealthy

The Fulminea, like any other hypercar, looks extremely desirable. Its aerodynamic silhouette is beautifully streamlined and compact at the same time. The rounded surfaces, in a way, hark back to the classics of the 60s; what's more, the carbon fiber adds aggressiveness to its already angular body panels. In the front, it looks like it was made to cut through the wind, and faces the ground.

Towards the wheel arches, it rises upwards a bit, creating what can easily be associated with a teardrop shape. The rear profile looks like it belongs on a car from a movie reflecting what future cities and transportation look like. There's a lot of attention that's gone into the details when it comes to the proportions, with a lot of focus on the mass distribution of the car.

The side profile is equally spectacular, full of lines and volumes coming out from the front and rear wings, crossing in the center, giving it the look of a lightning bolt. Starting from the front, the wings widen up, and then start to get narrow towards the cockpit. It then, again, wides towards the rear wings.

The lightness of the volumes has been inspired by the fastest creatures in the world. The tail, like the peregrine falcon, is long and slender; the silhouette is said to reflect the muscles and the ribcage of a cheetah. The lovely shape of the shark fin at the rear, in the middle, is spot-on. The cockpit has been designed to ensure the car gets the best of aerodynamics, improving airflow all over the car. The Fulminea gets butterfly doors that allow for easy ingress and egress.

The color, 'Azzuro Savoia' is what yellow is to Ferrari, and red is, to Lamborghini. It's Automobili Estrema's signature color that's been inspired by the beautiful hues of azurite crystals; this blends well with the carbon fiber. The headlights have LED/Laser technology incorporated into them.

The third brake light is sunken into the transparent shark fin elements, while the rear headlight fins are produced by EST-mobile in Turin. For the rear lights, they've used highly transparent recycled methacrylate panels with RGB LED lights, creating a unique design with an optic fiber-like look - perhaps the most attractive detail about the car.

Estrema Fulminea Uses Hybrid Electric Tech To Churn Out 2,000+ Hp

The Fulminea comprises some of the most sophisticated technology in the automotive industry, particularly given how quickly EVs are taking over. Thanks to multiple high-tech solutions, the hybrid battery pack technology is a combination of ultracapacitors with solid-state Li-ion cells in a single-performance super battery: an industry-first.

These ultracapacitors have the highest specific power ever, matching the solid-state Li-ion cells, produced by the company's partner ABEE Group. With an energy density of 500 Wh/kg, nothing in the EV industry can match it. Produced in cooperation with IMECAR Elektronik, it is also very safe since the solid-state electrolyte is non-flammable.

The two different cells are housed in separate, high-strength battery packs with carbon fiber shells. The ultra capacitors are placed on the front axle, while the bigger battery pack, is positioned behind the cockpit to achieve the best center of gravity distribution. The car features a 100kWh battery, produces 2,040 hp, weighs 3,300 pounds, and can sprint from 0-200mph in just 10 seconds. Power's sent to all four wheels.

Estrema Fulminea Is Going To Put The Competition On Notice

Although Automobili Estrema is new, compared to a lot of other carmakers, it seems to have done its homework, and come up with a car that's going to beat the living daylights out of other high-performance EVs - and this is only the beginning for the new Italian carmaker. Estrema Fulminea's prime competitors will include the Lotus Evija EV and Rimac Nevera.
