The Audi R8 has become as popular today in Audi's lineup as the Audi Quattro did in the 1980s. The R8 is one of the best cars in its segment with great performance and reliability and Audi always seems to be able to extract a little bit more out of the car year on year. The company has now announced a raft of 2022 Audi Sport model year updates and headlining this is the 2022 R8 with a ton of features that give the car even more power.

This year has seen the introduction of the rear-wheel-drive R8 as a full-blown production model in the R8 lineup, and it returns for 2022 with a new rear-wheel-drive performance model. This new model replaces last year’s entry in the R8 family. While the rear-wheel-drive might still steal some headlines, the biggest talking point must surely be the power increase the car has received. The R8 now has 562 hp which is a 30 hp increase from the previous 532 hp and that has also seen a torque increase from 398 lb-ft of torque to 406 lb-ft of torque.
