Move over Pontiac Aztec, there's a new sheriff of ugly in town. It's called the Aznom Palladium, and it is a massive hippo-like SUV with a serious focus on luxury. Typically when you want to make the most elegant and beautiful vehicle, you call the Italians. However; it appears as though these COVID Times have affected their abilities a bit.

"Filling An Interesting And Exclusive Niche"

Aznom Palladium

Aznom is an Italian coachbuilder, which means they take a pre-existing vehicle and customize it to their liking. Coach-built vehicles have been around since forever, and the people who buy these cars are the super rich who want the most exclusive car on the block. For the most part coach-built cars are incredibly beautiful and impressive machines, that fill the gap between the original car and the version of that car that the engineers wanted to make before the bean counters stepped in.

However, it appears as though Aznom allowed their designers to show up incredibly drunk, handed them a Ram 1500, saw, and welder and then let them have at it. Aznom doesn't directly say it is based off of a 1500 Ram, but with its use of a 5.7L V8, obvious FCA infotainment system, dial shifter, and steering wheel, it is quite obvious.  In their former attempt at this, the Ram as source vehicle was even more obvious.

Elegance On All Terrain

Via aznompalladium.com

According to Aznom, the Palladium was designed to allow its customers to "move with elegance on all terrain." And maybe that is the upside to the Palladium; that way you can drive it off-road and not be seen in it by anyone. It honestly almost looks like the designer of the 2021 M3 & M4 grill was allowed back into the design room, and this time they took their aggression out on a mid 2000's Honda Ridgeline.

As bad as the front end is though, it's nothing compared to the rear. Seriously, who signed off on that? What are they putting in the wine over there now-a-days that would make somebody think those odd body lines compliment each other?  And what to make of the inexplicable white panel within pre-dented sheet metal in the rear? The Palladium is also likely not going to be the spearhead for an opera window comeback.

At Least The Interior Is Nice...

The only things the Palladium has going for it is the 710hp twin turbo V8, and that in all honesty, the interior really doesn't look that bad. While there is room to quibble over details, it really does look like a very luxurious and nice place to be. With its rear bench seat, limousine style cooler, and high quality materials, it might just help you to forget about the shameful hunk of steel you had to look at on your way in. I'm not sure what type of rich celebrity they are trying to market this thing to, but Stevie Wonder would be a good guess.
