The VINwiki YouTube channel is one of the best places to go for some incredible insights into the car world. Their Car Stories series sees various guests come on, including founder Ed Bolian, to discuss some amazing personal tales or to recount some of their personal favorite stories in the world of cars. In one of their recent episodes, Rob Ferretti of @superspeedersRob fame talks to them about what might well be the best cheap Ferrari you can buy.  Rob spoke to VINwiki to discuss the Ferrari 360s he has owned, and the one he currently owns.

A Brand Everyone Gravitates Towards

Rob explains that Ferrari is the one brand that everyone gravitates towards and that anyone who considers themselves a car person will want to own a Ferrari at some point.  But there are some bad Ferraris, such as the 308, 328, and the Mondial. Not great cars, but cars people buy them because they are Ferraris.  Their value goes down, level out, and then goes back up again. Rob believes there is a correlation between owning a car like a Ferrari, and how much it is driven. He says that most of the time if one owns a Ferrari and don't drive it, its value goes up. It's when you start driving it that it starts to depreciate, which is a shame since driving is what they are about. However, when it comes to the 360, its value is slowly increasing, despite these cars being driven more than other models.

It is for that reason that Rob believes the 360 is in the perfect sweet spot in terms of usability, and long-term value. The 360 is a car that Rob gravitates towards as it was around when he grew up and thinks it has maintained its coolness over the years. He first bought one seven years ago, paying $50k, where he drove it for four years, and sold it for $55k. And over those four years it cost him $113 dollars a month. Roughly the cost of a decent cell phone service. Rob eventually bought a blue 360 Spyder and has been over the moon with how smooth the ownership of the cars has been. No significant failures at all. Now, he has a 360 Spyder in classic red over black.

A Car For Long Adventures

Since buying that car, he has had several adventures in it and covered around 11,000 miles. The car only had 12,000 on the clock when he bought it, meaning it is still a very low miler, having paid $80k or so for it. He doesn’t drive it a lot, but he drives it for fun, such as through Death Valley and Montana. He believes the 360 is right now, is the best Ferrari for the value you can get now in terms of speed, looks, and reliability.
