Remember the BMW XM Concept revealed a few months ago? It was BMW’s introduction to what seems to be their future design language. A lot of the details from the XM, which we didn’t like as they came rendered in a super-edgy SUV, are now brought to the new X7.

Starting with the exterior, where BMW X7 gets the most distinguishable upgrade. The facelifted headlights are now split horizontally - the upper, thinner part gets LED running lamps, whereas the main beam is housed just below that. A completely new front look gets bigger twin-kidney grilles, nothing new for BMW. The X7 can be optioned with 23-inch wheels for the first time and comes with no changes in wheelbase length whatsoever.

The interior gets the XM touch as well. The new dashboard now carries a curved display, which BMW likes to call BMW Curved Display- as found on the XM Concept. Backed by BMW Operating System 8, iDrive command control, smart gesture or voice controls, built-in navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless charging, the BMW X7 is surely the perfect luxury SUV anyone would want to roll in.

Heated comfort seats now come standard, along with four-zone climate control. The 2023 X7 can also be optioned with a “Thermo” package which will bring heated seats along all three rows plus a heated steering wheel, which will come in very handy for a lot of the North American states as well as Canada. The cargo space remains the same for 2023, and with the third-row seat up the BMW X7 benefits from 11.5 cubic feet of luggage capacity, and while folding the second and third-row seats around 75 cubic feet of cargo capacity is available. The 2023 BMW X7 can also be optioned with two separate middle-row seats for the more executive trims, and the passenger seat can recline for added space.

The 2023 BMW X7 Gets A Kick Out Of The New Engines

BMW-X7-40i

We like fast cars no matter what shape they come in, and BMW is no exception to that. The 2023 BMW X7 comes in two engine options: a straight-six and a V8. There will be a future mild-hybrid as announced by BMW, but this is what we have got so far.

The BMW X7 40i will carry the straight-six, 3.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 375 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, capable of running from 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds. That’s pretty fast considering this is a 5,397-lb SUV. The 2022 Supra, which packs an inline-six BMW engine does 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, but it weighs half of what the X7 does. There will be a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine in the form of xDrive40d, which will only be available in Europe.

North-America gets a rumbling 4.4-liter V8, in the form of the M60i. This will be the X7 flagship - the best of the best, bringing 523 horsepower and

553 pound-feet of torque. The V8 is paired with a 48-Volt mild-hybrid system, and so does the X7 40i. The V8 does 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

Both-engine options get all-wheel-drive and an 8-speed lightning-fast automatic transmission. New with the X7 is the “Sprint” Function. When the driver pulls the left-hand shift paddle for at least one second, the transmission automatically shifts into the lowest available gear.

The 2023 BMW X7 Is A Soft Ride

BMW-X7-Suspension

The 2023 BMW X7 gets adaptive dampers as standard. The X7 also comes standard with active anti-roll bars and two-axle air suspension with automatic self-leveling, which ensures a comfortable ride across all four wheels along with maximum road safety. This is what ensures agile driving dynamics and makes the X7 ride as nimble as a small vehicle. The 2023 BMW X7 can be optioned with the Dynamic Handling Package which adds more driver assisting features such as variable-ratio steering, rear-axle steering, and forward collision assistance.

The X7 can lower as much as 0.88 inches when exceeding speeds of 85 mph, making it the perfect road trip SUV. Loading stuff is also made easier at the press of a button, which can lower the suspension up to 1.5 inches when stationary.
