German automaker Audi has proved time and time again that their cars make some of the best bases for modded builds, especially with their S and RS line of models. They're fairly popular to build on in Europe, but in America, they're still seen as a more left-field choice than, say, a BMW. That's okay though, as it means US Audi modders get an unusual vehicle as well as a very fast one.

Nearly every vehicle in Audi's range is ripe for customization, but there are a few that naturally lend themselves to being modded. Many car fans love wagons, so it's no surprise that the brand's fast wagon range gets a lot of love. Sports and supercars too are unsurprisingly firm favorites. There are even a few odd-but-awesome choices as well. Stock Audis are great, but these builds prove that modified ones are even better.

8 RS6 ABT

Famed Audi tuners ABT has worked their magic on pretty much every Audi model produced, but the RS6 has to be one of their best-looking projects. This build is a top-tier example, with a sporty, almost sleeper-like look.

The matte black wrap hides the fact that this RS6 will have considerably more power than stock, although it was plenty fast enough, to begin with. As a bonus, it's big enough inside to haul a family or cargo too. It'll just haul them much faster than most other wagons. Much, much faster.

7 Super Clean RS7

RS7s are already incredible cars, even without any mods. So, to respect that, this owner decided to keep things simple. It means this is one of the cleanest builds around, sporting air suspension and forged wheels from Signature.

It's also had work done to protect its stock look, like a clear ceramic coating to help prevent stone chips. After all, there's no point in having a show-ready car if it's covered in dents and scratches.

6 Swedish S6

This S6 is a modified German performance wagon that's based in Sweden. Those words together all sound like a recipe for a great car, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. The S6 sports a stealthy look that includes yellow-tinted headlights for better visibility in the snow.

The owner of the car is a certified Audi nut, as he also owns a modified RS4 in yellow. Both that and this S6 sport rims from Swedish manufacturer OCL Brorssons. Judging by the set on this car, they deserve more recognition internationally than they get.

5 Stanced RS4

It's a sign that a build is outstanding when it gets featured on StanceNation, one of the biggest and best-respected stance media outlets around. This RS4 was bestowed that honor, and it's pretty clear to see why.

There are so many little details that just make this car unique, from the retro side graphics to the dark red panel color. The owner's Instagram doesn't seem to state what internal modifications have been made, but it's safe to say things are unlikely to be stuck under the hood.

4 Liberty Walk S5

Japanese tuners Liberty Walk are known globally for their stretched-out, lowered cars. Their cars are quite controversial, but even so, there are some models that just objectively suit an LB kit better than others. The Audi S5 is an unusual one, but it really works.

The car hails from California and sits on a set of rims by local favorites LD97 Forged. The car's yellow-tinted headlights are a great look, although yellow tints were originally made for visibility in snow. Unless this car goes on any very long road trips, it's unlikely to see any snow any time soon.

3 Tuned R8

The R8 is a formidable supercar straight from the factory, with a 611 hp engine and impressively effective aero meaning it can compete with the best in its class. One owner decided that wasn't fast enough though, and set about getting their R8 converted into a true monster.

After several trips to specialist car modification shops, this R8 now makes 1200 wheel hp, which converts to roughly 1440 crank hp. That's around two and a half times the factory output. As well as engine mods, the car also sports a variety of visual mods that make it one of the best-looking R8s about as well.

2 Lightly Modded RS3

Not every build has to sport crazy body kits or sit half an inch off the ground, as this RS3 goes to show. The RS3 is a great-looking car, to begin with, so this owner decided to just add their own flavor to the car's look rather than transform it.

That means a bright blue wrap, with the matching blue "Quattro" detailing being a great added touch. An Audi Sport logo now sits above the windshield, and a set of aftermarket rims finishes things up.

1 Supercar Killer TT RS

Some car fans think the TT is just a poor man's R8, but this crazy RS build proves that with a little modification the TT can be made into a real supercar-killer. The build comes from Scotland, which means as well as being immensely powerful it has to be able to tackle icy and wet conditions.

The engine is still the stock unit but has been heavily modified to put out over 700 hp. That means a quarter-mile time of 9.6 seconds, and just 4.6 seconds needed to get from 100 kph to 200 kph (62 mph to 124 mph). That's one seriously fast TT.
