Amazon’s hugely popular The Grand Tour, fronted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond, is back with its latest Christmas/Lockdown special. With Covid restrictions still hampering international travel, the trio again is in the United Kingdom but is this time taking a look at the weird and wonderful world of French cars. Amazon has dropped the trailer for the show on The Grand Tour YouTube Channel, which debuts globally just in time for Christmas.

French Cars Are A Bit Weird

In typical Clarkson fashion, the trailer opens with a controversial statement. Clarkson starts by saying “France. We like their food, their wine…but French cars can be a bit weird.” Hammond is then seen driving an old French car with a propellor on the front before the three drop a Citroen 2CV from 500 feet from a helicopter.

The trailer gets even more “Grand Tour” as Clarkson states they will have a motor race with French rules, with a rallycross event appearing to take a pause with a lunch break. And as you might expect, the race is full of Citroens and Renaults.

Destruction Of Cars

The destruction of cars theme runs throughout the show. The three presenters take some typical French cars on a rugged trail up a hill. Clarkson states, “their view is if you want to go to the top of that hill, you just use your normal family car."

A Citroen Berlingo then tumbles down a hill, and Hammond drives an Xsara Picasso that started out in one piece, before losing its back wheels. May, supposedly watching Hammond, comes out with the amusing quip “if you are French that’s just what a car looks like.”

Not All Fun And Games For 'The Grand Tour'

It doesn’t appear like it will be all fun and games though. There will be some seriousness. Clarkson and Hammond then get into one of the most beautiful French cars ever made, the high-performance Citroen SM. Clarkson amusingly references it's giant “Stop” warning light with the pair in hysterics over it. Hammond then looks to have angered a commuter in Britain by claiming he is doing the roundabout “in the French way” and then some pretty strong language ensues! May just sits in his car saying “Hammond is being beaten up by the locals.”

Amazon has chosen the name “Carnage A Trois” for this latest special, which has an amusing translation. The show will drop onto Amazon Prime Video just before Christmas on December 17.
