Jonny Smith and his YouTube channel, The Late Brake Show, have certainly shot up in popularity in recent months. And for good reason. Jonny has put together some fantastic videos and reviews, of classic cars, restomods, and the very latest and greatest to come from the manufacturers. One of his latest videos sees him take a close look at the latest electrical marvel from Porsche, the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo. Is it everything it's cracked up to be? And is it as quick as we think it is?

Don't Call The Cross Turismo A Wagon Or Estate

Porsche would rather you didn't think of it as a wagon, "Its a Cross Turismo!"  It does have a pretty rakish slope to the rear but let's face it, it's a wagon; and that is nothing to be ashamed of. To many eyes it looks better than the sedan.

Starting off with the design, Jonny points  a few extra bits it has over the sedan. For example, there are the rough plastic aerodynamic “spats” at the front and the rear and then the gloss plastic wheel arches. The Cross Turismo  also a 20 mm higher ground clearance than the Taycan sedan. It's worth pointing out that Jonny is looking at the Cross Turismo Turbo S, which is the top of the line model that starts at $187,600.

Help From Touring Car Championship Legend Jason Plato Comes In Handy

After meeting up with British Touring Car Championship driver Jason Plato, Jonny and Jason tried out the 0-62 time of the car. With 750 hp on tap, the 0-62 time of the Taycan Cross Turismo is impressive, at 2.9 seconds, putting plenty of more exotically shaped gasoline-powered cars to shame.  It also makes the claimed 2.7 second 0-60 time claimed by Porsche entirely viable.  By contrast, the Audi RS6 Avant has a 0-60 of 3.6 seconds.   The two men think, compared to a Formula 1 car on a standard road surface, the Cross Turismo would beat it to 62 mph. It's that impressive.

The Cross Turismo Range Is Extensive

There are four models to choose from including the 4, 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S, and each has its own distinct power output. Jonny also talks us through the dash and the cabin as a whole. It’s the same dash as in all Taycan models with its semi-floating gauges, and it's incredibly neat and well-integrated center controls. Overall, Jonny was incredibly impressed by Porsche’s latest electric machine and the full review is certainly worth your time.
