When it comes to car design, most manufacturers play it safe. They stick with whatever the current trend is and make cars that look either like the last model or like every other car on the market. However, some cars are designed to look as evil as possible. Properly villainous and so scary, it's like they were purposefully designed to intimidate other drivers.

Some of these cars were instantly favored by bad guys due to their menacing evil looks. It didn't matter that they were unreliable, slow, etc, because they looked the part. Here are the most evil-looking cars ever.

Via Mecum Auctions

The Buick Regal GNX is a really evil-looking muscle car. It was so deadly in fact, it was nicknamed the "Darth Vader" car because of its stealthy looks with its black grille and black paintwork. The GNX was a collaboration between Buick and McLaren. It featured a 3.8-liter turbo V6 with 300hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. It did 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, which was practically warp-speed in 1987.

The GNX is a scary muscle car. It was one of the best-looking American cars of the 1980s and even today, it still turns heads and intimidates other drivers. It looks like a serial killer's car in all honesty.

The Jaguar 420 G (MK X) is a proper gangster car that was driven by the Kray twins, who were a notorious gangster duo from London in the 1950s and 1960s. If you saw a 420G (MK X) in the rearview mirror, you would most definitely feel threatened as it is a scary-looking car.

It's long, it has four headlights, and it has a certain Cockney charm about it. This car can only be driven by those who are up to no good as the trunk was big enough to carry a few oil paintings, which in the time of the 320 G (MK X) was one of the most stolen items. It was pretty quick, but it used to break down all the time. However, even when it was at standstill, it looked haunting.

8 Mercedes 600 Grosser

Pinterest.com

Nothing is scarier than seeing a Mercedes 600 Grosser. The reason why is that nine times out of ten, a dictator is sat in the rear seats of the car and if you don't move your car out of the way, you might disappear forever. Sounds extreme but when you realize Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, Chairman Mao, and Idi Amin were amongst some of the owners of this car, that statement becomes chillingly true.

via MBWorld

The 600 Grosser is an extremely luxurious car. It is so luxurious, it makes modern luxury cars look like Ladas. The windows and trunk lid were powered by hydraulics. The reason for this was because Mercedes wanted to make this car as quiet and as overengineered as possible, because if they didn't, who knows what the demanding clientele would do to their engineers?!

7 Mercury Marauder

The Mercury Marauder is a properly evil muscle car. It started life as a Ford Crown Victoria, which was used mostly by the cops and as taxis. Then, that was all stripped away, and it was turned into the ultimate gangster car. The Mercury Marauder had a fat 4.6 liter V8 under the hood from the MK4 Mustang Mach 1.

The Marauder looked like a spy's car. It was black with chrome wheels, and it had that menacing look which no other car could achieve. This car was a pure badass. What was a New York Taxi or an LAPD cruiser doing with a Mustang V8 and chrome alloys?

6 Corvette C7 ZO6

Lingenfelter Collection

One look at the C7 ZO6 and you feel the fear running throughout your body. It looks somewhat like a snake, far scarier than a Viper. Could you imagine being in a small econobox like a Saturn Ion and this thing appears in your rearview mirror?

The C7 ZO6 has a rumbling supercharged 6.2 V8 under the hood with 650hp and 640 lb-ft of torque. More than any stock Lamborghini Huracán. It hits 60 in less than 3 seconds, and it does almost 200 mph. Supercar speed with menacing looks.

5 Mercedes 770

via: pintrest.com

The 770K Mercedes was the grandad of the 600 Grosser. It was owned by dictators, and it's a car that really instills fear into anyone who looks at it. The one sold to Emperor Hirohito was called the "Kaiserwagen" which basically means emperor car. It's a car that looks grand, and it demands respect everywhere it goes.

It may have been designed in 1930, but even today, it carries a far bigger statement than a new Maybach S650. It's a properly evil-looking car backed by the fact that it was owned by mostly evil people.

4 Jaguar XJR (X308)

Via SpeedHunters

The XJR (X308) is a proper gangster car. Just one look at it, and you know it means the business. It didn't just look mean with its four headlight grille setup, it's a proper muscular car that featured a massive supercharged 4.0 V8 with 370hp and 387 lb-ft of torque. That engine was so powerful that Jaguar had to use a Mercedes 5-speed automatic.

This car has to be one of the best Jaguars ever. It had so much power that it could probably outrun some of these 1990s British sports cars. It certainly looked far better than most of them too.

3 Lamborghini Aventador

If you are going to use a stealth fighter as the main source of inspiration for your car, just know it's going to look beyond aggressive. The Aventador hands down is the wildest looking Lamborghini ever. It is a stealth fighter for the road with 690hp and a top speed of 217 mph. The noise though is more like Concorde as it is seriously loud.

vfengineering.com

No car ever looks remotely close to an Aventador. None of the other Lamborghini's does at all. They may have similar lights and starter button, but everything else is a no. The Aventador is a car that scares anything and everything out of its way. Even when it's parked up it scares other supercars. This car is truly in a class of its own, and you will find it's just as fast or faster than most $1 million upwards hypercars.

2 Mercedes S600 W140

Via: benztuning.com

The S600 W140 commands respect. It has 12 cylinders, it has a large number on the trunk and the 3 pointed star is on the hood. This is no ordinary luxury car. This is a car that was designed to push others out of the way which is why mafia bosses loved it. The other W140 S-Class models looked good but never as intimidating as an S600.

This was one of the best Mercedes cars ever. It was the last of the overengineered goodness as it cost over a billion dollars to develop. The S600 had a huge square chrome grille at the front which could probably be seen from a mile away.

1 Mercedes G-Class

Via: www.motorpasion.com

The G-Class is a threatening-looking SUV. It's a box on wheels basically which is owned nowadays by pretty much everyone with money, from celebrities to mafia hitmen. Anything with boxy lines looks aggressive essentially and the G-Class just has mostly boxy lines pretty much.

The G-Class was designed for army use only at first. So it had to look tough and rugged. This design was kept and made to look a far lot more premium when it came to the road models. Our personal favorites are the W463 generation G63, G500 squared, and 6x6. All of those cars sent shockwaves through you when you looked at them.
