British EV manufacturer One Moto has unleashed a few new electric scooters lately in India, one of which is the One Moto Electa, an all-electric retro scooter deliberately designed to invoke memories of previous classic Vespa models from the 20th Century. Its design elements, such as the fenders, headlights, and body panels, were intentionally chosen for this purpose.

Following the launch of the Commuta and Byka, the Electa is the latest offering from One Moto. And despite the scooter's predominantly retro appearance, several modern, high-tech, digital features are included. However, be warned: all these extra features come at a price, as modern scooter amenities don't come cheap.

Reminiscent Of The Vespa

The design and function of the One Moto Electa evoke memories of a previous scooter. The first glance of this two-wheeled scooter even makes people think of classic scooters from the '60s, and upon further inspection, people find the Electa reminiscent of classic Vespas and Lambrettas, given the particular styling, such as the rounded headlights, streamlined body panels, and curved footboard. The styling is even deliberately referred to as “retro,” intentionally taking cues from the aforementioned Vespas. A thin and curvaceous front apron, a chunky front fender, flared rear fenders, and a circular headlamp and tail lamp. This scooter was made for urban transportation, just like others before it were.

Chrome has been heavily applied with regard to the front apron, rearview mirrors, headlamp bezel, floorboard, and rear luggage rack, helping to give a more premium presence to the One Moto Electa. While the scooter can be quite compact in its retro styling, the seat has been left flat to give a more spacious appearance. It is known to travel at high speeds by scooter standards, and Moto claims its ergonomics are very relaxed.

It's All Down To The Details

The anatomy and physiology of the One Moto Electa were meticulously planned. It has become quite the interesting balance of retro and modern, as, despite the retro exterior that is prominently displayed, there are modern features hidden beneath the surface, as was planned with the design.

The battery for the scooter is a 72V 45Ah detachable lithium-ion battery that can recharge in four hours, which operates as the power source for a 4kW QS brushless DC hub motor. Thankfully, a removable battery pack is available to assist with the ease of charging. Further, the One Moto Electa also has an instrument console that is partially digital, as well as LED lighting included throughout the scooter.

There's also a smartphone app called the One App that incorporates features such as battery efficiency monitoring, geo-fencing for tracking purposes, riding analysis, and maintenance alerts. This app can also be integrated with its associated smartphone thanks to the scooter's Bluetooth connectivity.

Of course, the inclusion of all these fancy features drives up the cost, hence the scooter's exorbitant price. Bonus features don't come cheap. The current pricing for the One Moto Electa is $4,500. One silver lining is the One Moto Electa's color selection: Matte Black, Shiny Black, Blue, Red, and Gray.

Part Of An Electric Trend

There is a growing trend for electric scooters to become commonplace. Moto already has unleashed two other electric scooters - Commuta and Byka, Electa's predecessors. All three share the One App and all of its related features. However, Electa is separated from its predecessors, thanks to the aforementioned 72V and 45A detachable lithium-ion battery, which only takes four hours to charge. Moto is so confident of Electa's success that a three-year warranty is available for the motor, controller, and battery. Electa is Moto's most expensive model, but the presence of three models at once is indicative of how prevalent electric scooters have become in the market, as Moto aims to launch high-quality, premium products.

The One Moto Electa is equipped with a lot of features likely to be used in 2022. In addition to the One App and its related features, it has the aforementioned partially-digital console and LED lights strategically placed throughout the vehicle. The front and rear brakes each have hydraulic disks, and it can run for 93 miles on a single charge. It weighs approximately 253.5 lbs and can go about 53 MPH. It can carry up to roughly 330 lbs as well. Also, as mentioned before, the lithium-ion battery back can be removed for ease of charging separately from the scooter.
