When we think of archetypal supercars, the usual names might come to mind – Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche; but there are many other brands that make cars which are no less hardcore than the mainstream ones.

Today on YouTube, thanks to channel NM2255, who report on interesting car-related happenings, there is a compilation of great-sounding Apollo Intensa Emozione footage.

This is one of the less-reported-on supercar brands, but when we see and hear anything about the Apollo IE, it is definitely worth paying attention.

We’ll unpack what is going on in the video and allow you to hear the Apollo in action for yourself.

The Apollo IE Is Every Inch A Supercar And A Racecar In One Beautiful Package

Following a reveal in 2017 and start of production in 2019, the Apollo Intensa Emozione (intense emotion in Italian, if it wasn’t clear) is more than a supercar – it’s both a hypercar and a racecar.

In fact, it can’t drive on the normal road, although you might not want it to either, as visibility, maneuverability and fuel economy aren’t high on the list of qualities.

But what you do get is a 6.3-liter Ferrari-derived engine, with no turbo assistance or hybrid technology, with 780 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque released to the rear wheels by a 6-speed sequential transmission.

In the video, first up, we see a black IE maneuvering with the driver’s door up, it’s right-hand drive, and the sound it makes even at idle is terrific.

Next, there’s some cruising around at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, with some wet-asphalt donuts too.

From the same German company who brought us the Gumpert Apollo before it went bankrupt – the 4.2-liter twin-turbo-charged road-legal supercar which supposedly can drive upside down in a tunnel – the Apollo IE is actually even more radical looking.

Weighing around 2700 lbs and having its engine placed in the rear section of the car with all the power going to the rear wheels, it is a handful in the rain, and you would want to be careful.

At $2.7 million and only 10 units produced, it’s not exactly cheap compared to other supercars.

With a white Mercedes playing camera-car, the IE is then sent full speed down an airstrip, sounding like an airplane too with plenty of pops and bangs as it decelerates at the end.

One of the most impressive parts is when the car is keeping pace with the Mercedes only to accelerate harshly, showing us just how quickly it picks up speed with that Ferrari-inspired beating heart under the awesome carbon-fiber body shell.
