The new edition of Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 7, is now out, and it's safe to say it’s a fabulous game. It’s the first true Gran Turismo game since 2013, as Gran Turismo Sport was a much more stripped back version of the simulator. As always with Gran Turismo there are some specially made cars just for the game from various manufacturers. And sim racing extraordinaire, YouTube star and Praga driver Jimmy Broadbent has been to Porsche to have a look at a 1,300 hp Porsche made specifically for Gran Turismo 7.

A Sensational Looking Concept

It must be strongly stressed that this is not a real Porsche, merely a real-life concept of the car, which is of course the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo. Why is this car so special? Well it is one of the two cover cars for GT7, and it’s the fact that sim racing games have allowed this car to exist both in the virtual world, and in real life as this model. There is active aero on the back, seen in the flaps on the back where the taillights are. And it's modeled as an electric car, mostly of carbon fiber construction.

The Imaginary Porsche Has An Insane Level Of Power

All-in, the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo makes 950 kW of power, which translates roughly Jimmy says to 1,291 hp, virtually 1,300 hp. Inside, the seats are actually molded into the carbon fiber monocoque, and it is very much a function over form interior. Broadbent gets to sit in the Porsche and remarks at how low he sits in the car. The steering wheel is quite radical as well, thanks to a lack of airbag modules, which means Porsche could just go to town with the design and make something that looks very futuristic.

Getting To Drive The Porsche

Jimmy obviously can’t drive the car in real life, but he does manage to give the car a run in GT7 back at home. Down the straight, all that power is fully unleashed almost instantaneously. Broadbent also comments on how the car can just catch you out, as you put the power down, but thanks to that radical aero, it can definitely help keep the car firmly planted on the ground and allow you to really push on through the corners. If you want to drive this car yourself, get onto GT7 and put yourself in the cockpit.
