As EVs and hybrids become more affordable to consumers, electric cars have become an increasingly popular choice for daily drivers. While many buyers may have once thought of electric cars as drab and boring, brands like Tesla and Porsche have proven otherwise, providing comfort, luxury, and performance without the need for an internal combustion engine. But, gearheads aren't quite sold on the idea of daily driving an EV, and that's only part of the reason why Shmee150 has decided to give up his beautiful Porsche Taycan Turbo S electric vehicle for a V12-toting Ferrari.

Electric Vehicle Fanatics Versus Internal Combustion Purists

Electric car fanatics and internal combustion engine purists seem to sit on opposite sides of the fence, adamant that their choice is the right one without any compromise. There are some benefits to each depending on the driver, but, when it comes down to it, the vehicle's powertrain choice really comes down to the preference and needs of each individual driver. But, as a long-standing car enthusiast, it isn't surprising to see reviewers like Shmee inevitably making the switch back to gasoline-powered cars — though he did give his electric vehicle an endurance test run just to make sure.

It Takes More Than A Test Drive To Make The Switch

For many drivers, the idea of just taking an electric car for a test drive may not be daunting, but the final purchase can be. Consumers really can't get the experience that they need from half an hour of driving a new vehicle, especially one that they are already skeptical of. Luckily for us, Shmee150 gave the Porsche Taycan Turbo S a full-scale test and review — over a year of ownership and 6,000 miles both on road trips and daily driving.

After a year of his Porsche Taycan Turbo S, Shmee has decided to switch his daily driver up to the most dramatic opposite end of the spectrum with a V12-toting Ferrari. Shmee starts out by noting that, although upon first glance the V12 seems like a less environmentally friendly option than the EV, battery production hasn't quite become sustainable enough yet to overcome the environmental impact that it creates. Besides that, he states, he just simply loves internal combustion engine cars. Although electric vehicles may become more environmentally efficient in the future, they aren't quite there yet, so we can continue to enjoy our big-block cars with no guilt, and Shmee can enjoy daily driving his V12 Ferrari.
