According to the movie's plot, Cruise's character high school student Joel Goodson takes the Porsche for a joy-ride with his best friend while his parents are off on vacation. After getting into some trouble while tooling around Chicago in the sportscar, in what is now an iconic movie scene, he ends up having the 928 roll off a pier and into Lake Michigan.

In fact, there were several cars of this model taking part in the film. But the copy that is going to be auctioned had the most screen time, including the chase scene in which the protagonist is being chased by a crazed pimp.

And it was on this Porsche 928 that Tom Cruise learned how to drive a stick shift. This is a useful skill, which later came in handy for the actor more than once, especially on the set of the Mission Impossible film series, in which his character, agent Ethan Hunt, drives around in a good number of manual transmission rides.

The Porsche 928, which debuted in 1977, was made for the North American market and was equipped with a 222 hp version of the 4.5-liter V8, which made it possible to develop 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and accelerate to a maximum of 143 mph.

After the filming, the car from Risky Business was in different private collections, periodically taking part in various exhibitions. In addition, just after the film, this 928 was brought to life. First of all, the car engine was serviced, replaced the cylinder head gaskets, and also changed the brakes. Then the coupe was sold.

Then Lewis Johnsen became interested in the car. As a 14-year-old boy, he first saw Risky Business in a movie and had a dream to buy that very Porsche 928 from the movie. In 2005, he decided to make his dream come true, and at the same time turn the search into a documentary. In the process, Johnsen spoke with the team, interviewed director Paul Brickman, and even hired a private detective.

It will be possible to bid on it on September 18th. The price is expected to be high, and most likely the car will end up in the collection of some museum.
