For the past two seasons on Nextflix, the Rust Bros. have restored scores of collectable cars on their property within the confines of the Rocky Mountains in Canada. The Avery family which runs the business have so many abandoned vehicles, they enlisted the whole town of Tappen in British Columbia to help out, intending to sell the restorations at prices that everyday consumers can afford. But one vehicle they're working on is getting a lot of attention: a 1941 Super Deluxe sedan made by Ford.

There's no indication of what shape the old beater was in, making it tempting to see if it makes it onto the future episode of the Rust Valley Restorations series. What we know about the work being done on it is that the body was in excellent shape and that workers installed an Oldsmobile Rocket 350 V8 engine and a Turbo 350 three-speed automatic transmission.

The team installed front disc brakes, improved the steering system with a new rack and pinion, put in an electric fan, and replaced the tires and upholstery. The Ford looks almost spanking new with an all-steer clear coat on the body, although the restorers add that the vehicle might require an engine refresh.

Back In The Day

In 1941, Ford put out nearly 400,000 models of the Super Deluxe, which comprised the majority of the automaker's total output of nearly 700,000 cars that year, so it was definitely a popular vehicle. The model in the Rust Bros. shop is a two-door sedan capable of carrying six people, weighs nearly 3,000 lbs. and had a sticker price at the time as low as $750.

Powering this classic car was a 221 cubic-inch, cast-iron V8 engine that could churn out 90 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque, which made it reliable enough to be a family car. It also had a two-barrel carburetor and a three-gear manual sliding column shift.

This old Ford is one of many unique vehicles the Rust Brother have been working on, having restored everything from muscle cars to a 1938 International Harvester truck. Recently-completed cars include a 1955 Chevrolet Belair, a 1964 Ford Fairlane and a 1967 Dodge Dart.
