Skoda, the suave cousin of Volkswagen, had introduced its first all-electric model, the Enyaq SUV in 2021. The brand has now introduced the Skoda Enyaq Coupe that adds a raked roof option. From the first images, the Enyaq Coupe looks very impressive. But not only is it a lot of show, but it has also a lot more go. Thanks to the aerodynamic new design, the Enyaq Coupe looks good, but also offers more range than the SUV. The lack of presence of the Skoda brand in North America might be irksome to those who find them alluring. But the Enyaq Coupe previews what we might be able to see from the upcoming Volkswagen I.D.5.

Skoda Enyaq Coupe IV: The Foundations

2022 Skoda Enyaq Coupe IV Side Profile

The overall design of Enyaq Coupe is very similar to the Skoda Vision IV that was showcased in 2019. Skoda has used the Volkswagen Group's MEB electric vehicle platform for the new Enyaq Coupe. Compared to the SUV model, the Enyaq Coupe is 0.16 inches longer and 0.24 inches taller. So it is marginally a larger vehicle. The primary difference is beyond the B-pillar. The roofline begins to slope down to the back from the B-pillar to the tail gate. That results in an elegantly styled raked coupe-style roof. The smoother sculpted rear design of the Enyaq Coupe gives the vehicle a cool look. Impressively, it also improves the drag coefficient to 0.234 meaning that as the air flows better around the car, it becomes more efficient. Coupled with the reduction in weight with the Coupe, the range is marginally increased for the electric vehicle. The Enyaq Coupe looks impressive and stylish. Even the large wheels not only look cool but help improve the aerodynamics, reducing drag.

Skoda has also introduced a few design touches for the Enyaq along with two “Design Selections”. The Coupe model will be available with a special shade of Graphite Gray or Phoenix Orange paint schemes.

The Interior Of The Enyaq Coupe Has Some Cool Tech And Features

2022 Skoda Enyaq Coupe IV Interior

The overall layout of the interior design is similar to the Enyaq SUV. However, there are subtle differences that can be seen. The steering wheel for starters is a sporty three-spoke design, rather than a two-spoke design. Furthermore, the sloping roof means that headroom for rear passengers might be a squeeze. So, to improve headroom, Skoda has used a fixed tinted glass roof. Not only does it improve headroom, but it also makes the cabin feel airy and bright. The sloping roofline may look great from the outside. The compromise one must make is practicality. The SUV’s 20.6 cubic feet trunk capacity drops to 20.1 cubic feet. A small compromise, but a compromise nonetheless.

The tech on board is also something to behold. On top of the dash is a massive 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system that runs Skoda’s latest software and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver gets a smaller 5.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Overall, the futuristic cabin looks modern and elegant.

A Technical Look At The Skoda Enyaq Coupe

The SUV model is offered in two battery sizes. However, the Enyaq Coupe is only available with the larger 77 kilo-Watt-hour battery. Using the MEB platforms skateboard architecture, the battery pack is placed under the floor of the car. The entry-level Enyaq Coupe is a single rear motor unit that makes 201 horsepower. With the sloping roof design and the weight reduction, the maximum driving range this model offers is 339 miles on the WLTP cycle. The system supports fast charging, allowing it to replenish energy from 10 to 80 percent in under a half-hour.

A more powerful all-wheel-drive model is also available that adds another motor at the front. This model adds a power boost of up to 262 horsepower. Should you desire more performance, Skoda has also introduced the first hot all-electric RS model. The Skoda Enyaq Coupe RS is the most powerful Skoda yet.

2023 Skoda Enyaq Coupe RS Rear Dynamic

The Enyaq Coupe looks to be in the same league as the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Mercedes-Benz EQA, the Tesla Model Y and the upcoming Volkswagen I.D. 5. Nearly everything in this segment of electric cars will be offered in the US. But the Skoda Enyaq Coupe will not. The Enyaq Coupe RS is also quite desirable, and looks super cool. Especially in the lime-green launch color. It is the first electric model to receive the brand's RS performance treatment. Additionally, it packs a neck-breaking 295 horsepower.
