When talking about Tesla there is something special with each model they offer to the market. Being the car company that revolutionized the car concept in more than one way, Tesla is about to release their new pickup truck that comes loaded with power and next-gen looks. Named the Cybertruck, it looks like this is a car straight out of a science fiction movie, and as Musk mentioned on a test drive with Jay Leno “It is the perfect apocalypse car”. Capable of towing an F-150 while going uphill, the new Tesla truck is announced to be priced around $39,900 starting price which is way less than most high-end competitors. If the looks appear to be too boring or unusual, what those batteries and electric motors can produce will surprise you.

Let’s talk a bit further about how the Tesla Cybertruck is far from your regular pickup.

The Cybertruck Is Built Differently: Body Frame Exoskeleton

At first glance, the Cybertruck looks like a pixelated Minecraft car, but that shouldn't hold us back to some of the most interesting quirks and features the Cybertruck body shell carries. Colorless, sharp edges, and flat panels and an overall angular look, the Cybertruck carries a bulletproof body shell capable of withstanding 9 mm handgun bullets. Built rough and tough the Cybertruck comes standard with armored glass or better said from Musk, Transparent Metal Glass. Indeed, this is one of those cars that can’t really blend in with the rest of the pickups in circulation today.

Another very intriguing feature of the Cybertruck is the constructive frame of the car. Most pickup trucks are body-on-frame, and they have been looking the same for the past 100 years across different automakers. The Cybertruck is built differently thanks to the ultra-hard 30x cold-rolled stainless-steel structural skin that forms the exoskeleton body frame, which is designed to be the toughest and most secure body structure to ever be used in a pickup truck. Every component of the Exoskeleton body shell is designed for superior strength and endurance - clearly seen when first unveiled on how the hammer slam didn’t bend the doors. This is a step-up for Tesla in a car segment that makes up a big portion of car sales in the US - pickup trucks.

The Conventional Truck Bed Is Now A Vault

The controversial design of the Cybertruck looks nothing like a regular pickup with a body and bed. Most pickups today feature a bed and a cabin, and that’s pretty much it. If buyers would like to add an extra sliding roof, there are options, but they don’t fit with the pickup truck theme. The Cybertruck, however, will carry a sliding roof that opens up with the push of a button and covers the entire bed area - Tesla calls it the Vault. A ton of power outlets that can turn the Cybertruck into a generator when the electricity goes out of your house and a compressed air outlet for pneumatic tools are some unique, never-seen-before quirks the Vault comes with.

The bed is 6.5 ft long, however the Vault design makes for 100 cu-ft of space. A ramp is also standard and extends to the ground, paired with the adaptive air suspension the Vault is oddly practical - as seen on its unveiling where Elon was giggling when a Tesla ATV was loaded and put in charge on the bed of the Cybertruck, who knows one day we might see Tesla joining the RV fleet.

The Specs Look To Be Superior Against Most Competitors While Remaining Relatively Cheap

When unveiled for the public, Elon Musk mentioned that the Cybertruck will have a starting price of $39,900 and their pickup will come in three different price options. There will be a Single Motor RWD ($39,900) which does 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds, followed by a Dual Motor AWD ($49,900) capable of sprinting to 60mph in 4.5 seconds, and lastly the Tri Motor AWD ($69,900) does 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds

The mile range peaks at 250 miles, 300 miles, and 500 miles respectively while all Cybertrucks no matter the engine layout have a maximum payload of 3,500 lbs. What’s new when the Cybertruck will come on sale is the Tri Motor layout. The 2.9 seconds runtime elevates the Cybertruck to be one of the fastest pickups on the market, sitting along with exotic cars that are 10 times the price. The main formula of what the pickup was designed was definitely not racing or 0-60 mph run times, but that’s not bad to have, and it can give the Cybertruck drivers a smile while lugging tools in the vault. A similarly priced Ford Raptor for instance does 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds.

Being A Tesla Is Generally Accepted As Far From Regular

Aside from being built rough and tough, the Cybertruck is a Tesla car. Standard features like autopilot and software updates are standard commodities most ICE cars don’t come with. With that being said, the Cybertruck has an advantage when it comes to remaining opulent thanks to Tesla’s software updates. These updates can improve what the car is actually capable of doing, while if buyers choose to have an ICE pickup, they will be stuck with what they have from the factory and nothing more.

Software updates apply across all Tesla models and require the driver to sit comfortably while the system does everything for them without the need of visiting a dealership. Being fast, relatively cheap doesn’t limit the truck’s capabilities to be one of the best off-roaders available. The adaptive air suspension raises the Cybertruck to different ground clearance levels - this isn’t something you can easily do with any pickup straight from the manufacturer, unless you trade off comfort to lift the suspension. All put up together, the Cybertruck will be an unusual pickup truck that would certainly appeal to everyone but based on cost, features and the fact that it's one of the first electric pickups makes it a tough contender in the world of trucks.
