Since it was first shown off as a concept several years ago, Volkswagen’s ID. Buzz has caused a bit of a stir. And even more so now the final, production variant has been finally revealed. And we, of course, do have the camper van style version to look forward too. But perhaps Volkswagen has not yet finished with variations of the ID. Buzz. Volkswagen's chief designer has taken to Instagram to reveal a mockup of the Buzz in a pickup form, in celebration of World Design Day.
A Cryptic Message For Buzz Fans
With the post on his Instagram, designer Klaus Zyciora has left a bit of a cryptic message with his post. His post with the truck says, “shall we bring it to the next level?” We can imagine quite a few people would get very excited should VW actually bring a pickup version of the ID. Buzz into production! Zyciora also describes this as an unseen variation of the ID. Buzz and it's certainly grabbed our attention. The already iconic lines of the Buzz are present until we move to the rear of this vehicle.
A New Pickup Truck For A New Era
We only get the one angle of this pickup, but we get a good look at the design. The front is the traditional ID. Buzz, with the gently sloping front-end and the styling of this ID. Buzz concept is very similar to that of the beach camper van version which has caused so much hype. What we have in effect here is almost the entirety of the standard Buzz with its front two passenger sections, but where the back end would reside with the rear windows, it is dramatically altered to accommodate the new pickup bed.
Something We All Want To See
The back of the truck is clearly extended, giving us a longer ID. Buzz than the original. This isn’t a case of just a slightly tweaked rear-end. It is a proper go at an electric VW pickup. Unsurprisingly, a few people in the comments section stated that they would love to see this concept become a reality. And maybe the cryptic messaging by Zyciora hints at the desire within VW to do that. It is in reality unlikely that this concept would actually see the light of day. But we can certainly dream of an ID. Buzz pickup truck.
