The Tesla Model S Plaid is a fast car. We know this. It has a claimed 0-60 time of 1.98 seconds. The Dodge Demon comes in a little slower, with a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds. One is a glorified family car while the other, born from the deepest depths of the underworld, with one goal in mind and that is the annihilation of the quarter-mile. You can imagine our excitement when we heard DragTimes would be putting these two together.

Let's Meet Our Contestants: Tesla Vs Dodge

We join Brooks as he explains that he is out at the Texas MotorPlex for YouTube Call Out Version 3. Herman from Demonology and Donkmaster have invited him out for this legendary race between two giants.

The first look goes to the Tesla Model S Plaids. There are three in black, blue, and red, which belong to the Texas Racing Channel. Next, we see the Frankenstein monster Demon. Herman tells us he's put in a Turbo 400Rossler transmission, so the Teslas will have a run for their money. We can see Herman making adjustments on his laptop and cooling everything on the car with ice and fans.

They both do separate test passes and get 9.5 seconds, to which Herman and Brooks start talking their game. Herman needs to cool down the Demon, meanwhile Brooks is telling him that his Tesla is always ready to go. Herman's rebuttal gets a bit of a chuckle when he tells Brooks that's until he loses all his charge on one pass. Brooks loses the smack talk when he tells Herman that's why he brought three Teslas. Herman continues the smack talk by telling Brooks that when he inevitably wins, Brooks will have to tie his shirt in a front knot. They decide finally to stop the friendly smack talk and get to the race.

The Pass

So, this is it. Where the smack talk ends. Put up or shut up. We are lucky enough to get views from both cars thanks to Go-Pros attached to the cars. It is very clear to see early on that the winner would be the Dodge Demon. As its name suggests, the car flew like a bat out of hell, quickly gapping the Tesla. The times for the Demon were 9.060 at 151.54 mph, and the Tesla Model S Plaid gets slapped with a loss with a time of 9.313 at an unidentified speed.

It seems as though, as the facts clearly prove, that internal combustion is still the winner if you drag race from home to the shop. If you can sacrifice 0.3 seconds each quarter-mile for a four door comfortable car, however, then that's a good choice too.
