Watching FuelTech USA and Emelia Hartford battle it out for Chevrolet Corvette C8 supremacy over the last few months has been nothing short of remarkable. The two Corvette giants have broken the world record for fastest and most powerful C8 Corvette multiple times and the title has swung between the two of them on several occasions too. It doesn’t look like FuelTech USA wants to give up their crowns at all, as they appear to have become the first with a C8 Corvette to eclipse the 8-second quarter-mile with their C8 making 8.973 seconds.

FuelTech USA has uploaded a video onto their YouTube channel of their monster putting in its exciting sub-nine second run. With Anderson Dick at the wheel of the car, its exact run time was a truly insane 8.973 seconds and topping out at 160.9 mph at Orlando Speed World. The video captures the emotion of the team superbly as the digital display flashes up the top speed and the crazy fast run time, with Anderson mighty happy at having been able to put such a good run together. It’s a staggering achievement.

It's taken a lot for the FuelTech USA team to capture this record. Last year, the team added a twin-turbo system to the car and then integrated it with the award-winning FT600 engine management system. That they say was a feat in itself, working in conjunction with the PCM and providing the right fuel, spark, and power management needed to allow the LT2 turbocharged engine to run smoothly, and then ultimately claim the record. The two Garrett G35-900 turbochargers help to provide some of the near 1,700 hp that this astonishing car has.

Grabbing the world record for the fastest C8 Corvette, and first in the eight-second barrier, clearly meant a lot to FuelTech USA. After the run, Anderson said that he was so glad they were able to break the record, a year on from getting the car as stock. There have been a lot of other subtle little tricks that the team had to do, to get the electronics talking in the right way. They got super close to the 8.97 second time last year with a 9.01 run, and if this is the end of the FuelTech C8 story then it has been an incredible run.
