How much HP can the Ford Focus Handle?

Via: modbargains'blog

This car is a beast, to begin with! once you get behind the wheel of a Ford Focus RS that has not been modified yet, you will love how the car handles and feel. Some of us though, want to make the car as unique as possible. We want to add a few modifications that can turn this awesome hatchback into a demon!

A question often asked is how much Horsepower can the Focus RS handle? We need to understand this before we can boost the engine.

The stock settings for the RS have been measured to produce about 322 HP as well as 352 Ib-ft torque. When this car goes, it sounds amazing! 350 HP is the max estimated for the Focus RS with 441 Ib-ft torque.

Some of the most popular upgrades to help increase the power and handling of this car is an ECU flasher and a high-flow air filter.

Exhaust- If you chat to any car enthusiast, they will tell you that one of the most exciting things you can modify is your exhaust. We all love this mod because it makes your car growl and people will turn their head to see what that nice-sounding car that just drove past.

Springs- Taking this car out on the track is a real treat! The Focus RS handles brilliantly on the track with the stock parts, however, upgrading the springs to something a bit lower, will create a lower center of gravity and will give you better handling. This mod makes going around the track feel like a Sunday stroll.

Carbon Fiber Parts- You can add carbon fiber to reduce weight on your car and make it go a bit quicker. Let’s be honest, carbon fiber looks sexy on a car! It is a great mod to add to your car to make it more aesthetically pleasing and can help your hatchback stand out. Carbon fiber makes the car feel more expensive in the interior.

Intakes- We spoke about this a bit earlier. The first thing most car enthusiasts do is replace the stock air intake. It gives you more power and opens up the engine bay. This mod with the exhaust mod will make your car sing like no other!

What you should leave alone:

Intercooler- Ford did such an amazing job with the intercooler on this car that they actually had to install a blanking plate to slightly block the air intake. This was done to reduce its efficiency! How amazing is that?

Brake Calipers- When people buy cars, the first thing that they do is change the brake calipers to Brembo calipers. Ford Focus RS owners are very lucky because this caliper comes standard with the car. You do not need to change something that is already viewed as the best in the business.

Handling/Suspension Upgrades:

The Drift mode on this car is another fan favorite modification. You feel like you have got something very special in the handling of this car and you feel as if you can take on anyone!

With that being said, many Ford Focus owners upgrade the handling of their cars but upgrading the suspension. This increases your enjoyment of the car, makes it feel smooth, and is something you need to upgrade if you plan on upgrading the engine.

The coolest suspension upgrade is a sports suspension! This makes the car fly and you still feel like you are in complete control when you are racing down the road.

Add a Cobb Accessport to help fine-tune your performance and you will have one of the sickest cars on the track!

Things that you can change or leave alone. This depends on the driver:

Rims- One of the coolest mods that you can do to your wheels is getting rims put on them. Not only does it make your car feel like your own, the tires look hot but they also have a great safety feature. Custom rims often have special bolts for those rims which is great because it means you need a special tool to take the nuts and bolts off… It is going to be hard for someone to steal your rims off your sick ride.

Wheels- Depending on where you live will depend on what wheels you want to get. The 19-inch wheels that come stock look awesome but sometimes we prefer a different brand or we need wheels for the winter.

Car Seat- With a car that is as sexy and aggressive as the Focus RS, it is understandable that you want to place racing seats in your car. The seats will make sure that the outside of the car matches the inside of the car.

Steering wheel- This is a great place for you to add carbon fiber to. Carbon fiber on a steering wheel feels so smooth and makes your heart feel warm and fuzzy when you look at how sexy the inside of your car looks. The steering wheel comes in different shapes and sizes. What feels best to you is the option that you go for.
