The name Carrera derives from the commemoration of Porsche's success in the Carrera Panamericana race.

The car was produced before the merger of Mercedes and AMG and it was simply sold under Mercedes warranty as a special edition of the car. However, this AMG had an astronomical price and therefore they are quite rare. It is believed that only 50 units were ever sold.

It is quite different from the in-house performance division 'M' as the engine is completely changed and buffed up. The B7 is what dreams are made of as it is powered by a 3.5-liter turbocharged straight-six cylinder engine that produces 325 horsepower that could push the car to a top speed of 165 mph.

This generation of the M3 is the most sought-after vehicle ever made by BMW. This car was special and everyone knew it when it was first unveiled in 1985 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
