The Fast and Furious movie franchise has featured some of the coolest cars ever made. From American cars like the Plymouth GTX used in The Fate of the Furious and European vehicles like the Bugatti Veyron used in Furious 7, the models used in the movies vary from muscle cars to sports cars and modified Japanese tuners such as the iconic Toyota Supra famously driven by Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker).

However, despite the diversity of cars used in the movies, the starring role arguably belongs to the Japanese cars, especially after the debut of the Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. 

Indeed, the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) is often associated with incredibly cool modified cars with amazing designs and engineering, and their featuring in the Fast and Furious is a complete representation of this. As such, we will explore some of the coolest JDM cars to feature in the movies.

10 Nissan 350Z

The Nissan 350Z was featured in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, and pretty much owes its iconic status to that very movie. The vehicle came with an impressive amount of power as the 3.2-liter V6 produced 287 bhp. It was also a fantastic car on both road and track, which is amazing considering that the price for one of these wasn't high at all.

The version featured in Fast and Furious and driven by DK was modified with custom fenders and bumpers, among stylings on the rear wing. The engine on this version is also a V6 that produced 460 bhp, which is amazing considering the stock outputs. Already being a cool car, the version in the film was even cooler.

Also featuring in Tokyo Drift was the Mazda RX-7. It is a fantastic drifter and was updated by the Japanese modifying brand VeilSide. Even without this, the Mazda is an amazing vehicle, but the tuned version stands out as an incredibly cool car. The engine is a turbocharged Wankel rotary that produces 280 bhp.

The Mazda can go 0-60 mph in 6 seconds, which is amazing - and when tuned, there is no doubt that the vehicle can go even faster. We love it for its drifting, as noted above, but because of its precision and engineering quality. These characteristics make the car incredibly cool and we sure know that it suits the Fast and Furious culture.

8 Nissan Skyline GT-R R33

The Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 didn't make an appearance for very long. However, it is an extremely cool car that is embedded in a lot of car culture. While almost being the same as the Skyline R32 but there were various improvements to the car, including the oil pump problems being fixed.

The car itself came with 280 bhp and an inline-6 engine which was pretty awesome. It came with 155 mph as its top speed, but as with most Nissan vehicles like this, the engine was easily tunable. The car is so cool as it is great on the track and because of how easy it is to modify into an absolute monster.

7 Honda S2000

Used in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Suki's Honda S2000 came with a custom set of pink vinyl and pink body paint. Prior to modifications, the stock version of the car comes with 240 bhp, but upon tuning, the car offers even more. When a supercharger is added, the car is even more powerful and is incredible to drive.

The Honda used by Suki uses a supercharger and various upgrades to the exhaust. Also featuring some awesome artwork, the car stands out and is easily one of the coolest cars to feature in the franchise.

6 Lexus LFA

The Lexus LFA featured in Fast Five and was anything but boring. The LFA came with a V10 engine that produced 550 bhp. The power of the RWD system also enhanced the drifting capabilities of the vehicle, making it a perfect car to feature in the films. Interestingly, the car has a carbon-fiber body making it incredibly lightweight too.

The car can go incredibly fast too, reaching 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds which is amazing. The Lexus is a great JDM car and it fits the culture of vehicles in the movies. It is definitely cool and stands out as a Lexus model, shifting from the usual creations by the brand.

5 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34

Also featured in 2 Fast 2 Furious was the Nissan GT-R R34. Many car enthusiasts love the Skyline R34 for many reasons, including the fact that the car is so much more advanced than the previous R33. Coming with twin-turbochargers and less weight, the car is perfect for racing and going to high speeds.

The car was driven by Brian O'Conner in the movie, and it drove off a rising bridge, which is amazing. We're not 100% on the mods that were put on the vehicle that featured in the film, but it was fantastic even in its stock version, so it was already an incredibly cool car.

4 Toyota Supra Mk IV

Used in The Fast and Furious 2001 film, the Toyota Supra Mk IV is an incredibly iconic vehicle. The Supra is a great lineup of cars, but the Mk IV especially is loved because of its high power outputs and the iconic 2JZ engine too.

The one that featured in the film came with a tuned 2JZ engine (that was not a twin-turbo) but came with over 500 bhp. The car also came with an amazing top speed of 185 mph, which isn't easy to beat. Not only do these aspects make the car incredibly cool, but so do the bright orange paint and artwork featuring on the vehicle.

Featuring in multiple films of the franchise, the Acura NSX is an iconic car that has gained incredible status worldwide. The car featuring in the films is driven by Mia Torretto and it looks extremely cool. The V6 engine is impressive too, and it came with 290-hp stock.

The 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII featured in 2 Fast 2 Furious and its bright colors make the vehicle instantly recognizable. Driven by Brian O'Connor in the movie, the vehicle was lightly modified in terms of performance. The stock Evo came with a turbocharged I4 engine that brought 276 bhp alongside boosted torque levels.

The body kit came with a carbon fiber front splitter and bright green paint which made the car stand out. There were plenty of stunts done in the vehicle too, with multiple cars being made to film it. The iconic styling of this car truly makes it amazing and it is forever remembered from the early days of the films.
