Cars come in all shapes: sedans, coupes, convertibles, trucks, minivans, SUVs, etc. But there is one particular segment that we don't see much on the streets anymore: the classic Shooting Brakes.

By definition, a shooting brake is a combination of a coupe and a wagon, or basically a 2-door wagon. Shooting Wagons became very popular in the '60s and '70s, but they didn't come out of the factory, they were custom-built by external designers.

With performance wagons such as the Audi RS6 or the Porsche Panamera, there isn't really a need or a place in the market for shooting brakes anymore, but some artists and people that decided to custom-built their shooting brakes are here to show us how incredible many modern sports cars would look as shooting brakes.

10 Chevrolet Corvette C7

One of the biggest problems of most sports cars, and especially the ones with from engine, is the lack of storage space in the trunk, or in some cases, the lack of a trunk. Well, if you happen to own a C7 Corvette and you need some extra space on the back, Callaway offers the "Aerowagen" package. If instead, you are interested in acquiring an Aerowagen Corvette, Callaway also offers many performance packages that apply to the Corvette or the Aerowagen.

As a real-life working car, a shooting brake with a mid-mounted-engine is completely useless. The extra space in the back would be wasted and heat management would be a disaster. But after seeing the purist's reaction to his Pagani Huayra shooting brake, automotive designer Al Yazid (yasiddesign on Instagram), just had to give the 918 Spyder the same treatment.

The engine cover looks amazing, and the exhaust pipes in the back are supper aggressive.

8 Nissan GT-R

If the perfect car exists, I am pretty sure it looks something like this GT-R. Its most likely we will never see anything like this other than on a screen, not even built by a custom shop. But the sole idea of a Nissan GT-R, a 2 door car with 600 horsepower and a ton of space in the back, its something we are fond of. Rain Prisk is the artist responsible for this amazing design.

Rain Prisk is responsible for many awesome renders, and this shooting brake Viper is another one of them. The Viper is a sports car powered by a 640 hp naturally aspirated V10 engine. The Viper takes its name from the most venenous family of snakes that exists, and with the shooting brake conversion, it looks more aggressive and similar to the shape of a snake's head. The side air vents and side exhaust are some great details too.

6 Chevrolet Camaro

All muscle cars look cool (even the V6 models), but the problem with them is that there are just too many of them on the roads. This custom-built Camaro will definitely make you think about muscle cars in a different way, not only as a fast and loud American car but also a comfortable and practical car for everyday use.

5 Audi R8

It's understandable why a shooting brake version of the Audi R8 does not exist. It would require moving the engine from the center to the front of the car. Anyway, we cant say that we don't absolutely love how this looks: sleek, modern, and fast. With a V10 and 610 horsepower under the hood (not behind the driver), the shooting brake R8 sounds like everything any man needs.

4 Toyota Supra

The new Supra hasn't escaped the magic of Rain Prisk either. On this render, the Supra is not only a shotting brake but is also wide-bodied. If it were to go into production (most likely will not), a shooting brake Supra would be an amazing homage to the Z3 M, taking into account that BMW played a huge role in the development of the MK V Supra.

3 Ferrari 355

Currently, Ferrari does have a shooting brake in their lineup, the GTC4 Lusso, which is the successor of the Ferrari FF (also a shooting brake). But what would have happened if Ferrari had decided to make shooting brakes before? Let's say, 25 years back, when the F355 was still in production.

Once again, Rian Prisk is able to show us the car that could have been. Now turned into a 4 seater, the F355 looks amazing and more practical. I am not saying this is the perfect family car, but it does get close.

2 Jaguar F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type came out in 2013, and while it enjoyed some fame for a while, it got forgotten pretty fast. This doesn't mean that was a bad car, in fact, the powertrain is pretty interesting, a supercharged V6 with 380 horsepower and a manual transmission option, or the top of the line with a supercharged V8 and 575 horsepower.

Maybe the problem with this car was that for the same money you could buy something like a Mercedes or any other sports car on the segment. But if they offered a Shooting Brake body, maybe the F-Type would become more appealing to the public.

1 Dodge Challenger

Both its opponents, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro, offer convertible versions. The Challenger is the only one that only offers one body type, and that makes complete sense when you have 700 or 800 horsepower under the hood, you can't compromise rigidity, and the roof has great importance in the car structure.

That's why offering a shooting brake version of the Challenger wouldn't be such a bad idea, it would able Dodge to offer multiple body types without taking any rigidity away. Besides, it would make it a more special car on the road and offer more interior space (if you ever sat in the back of a Challenger I am sure you understand)
