When the discussion is about the collection of vintage, custom, or modified cars, Jay Leno needs no introduction. A car enthusiast and collector, Jay Leno shot into limelight in the early 1990s as the host of NBC’s “The Tonight with Jay Leno Show.”
The 1963 Chevy Corvette Stingray Coupe with split windows is one of the rarest cars in the world as it got discontinued in its debut year. Hence, Jay Leno owning one of them is simply incredible.
9 Will.i.am – IAMAUTO DeLorean
Rapper, singer, producer, actor, and entrepreneur, Will.i.am has probably done it all musically and made a fortune for himself while at it. Currently, the Black Eyed Peas founder is putting his creativity into another venture he’s passionate about – car modification.
For this particular project, Will.i.am bought a DeLorean, drew a sketch of his vision for the car, and got the guys at West Coast Customs to do the transformation.
8 David Beckham – Rolls-Royce Phantom
David Beckham has found fortune playing soccer. Hence, he’s able to acquire the finest things in life – things such as exotic cars. Beckham’s fleet of exotic cars includes a custom-made Rolls-Royce Phantom. Powering this Phantom is a 6.75-liter V12 engine producing 453 hp that is controlled by a six-speed automatic transmission.
David Beckham’s Phantom has a specially built 24-inch Savini Forged wheels, color-matched trim on the exterior, and uniquely engraved Beckham’s jersey number “23” on all the seats.
7 Jay Z – Maybach Exelero
Jay Z is one of the most commercially successful musical artists ever. With such magnitude of financial success, buying a one-off customized Maybach wouldn’t be an uphill task, hence, Jay Z got himself the Maybach Exelero. The Exelero is a high-performance sports car built by Stola in partnership with DaimlerChrysler.
This supercar is powered by a twin-turbo V12 engine producing 690 hp at 5000 rpm and 752 ft-lb of torque at 2500 rpm. Exelero goes from rest to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 218 mph.
6 Lady Gaga – El Camino
Lady Gaga is the undisputed queen of eccentricity, and there’s arguably no better automobile that matches her oddity than the vintage coupe utility pickup, El Camino. Lady Gaga’s El Camino is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive pickup coupe built by General Motors.
The utility coupe belongs to the second generation model and the idea behind its creation is hinged on building a car that fits perfectly as both a leisure car and a work truck. In Lady Gaga’s words, “truly some things never go out of style.”
5 Will.i.am – IAMAUTO Custom Coupe
This custom coupe was Will.I.Am’s second car project from his IAMAUTO Company after the DeLorean. Just like the IAMAUTO DeLorean, this custom coupe also got mixed reactions from the public. However, the project is daring and the vision deserves nothing but commendation.
Until he was satisfied with the execution, Will.I.Am changed the modification company about three times. The coupe is powered by LS3 from Extreme Performance. The coupe was built from a vintage 1958 Volkswagen, with about $900,000 spent on the entire project.
4 Nicki Minaj - Lamborghini Aventador
Is it ever a Nicki Minaj’s car if it’s not adorned in pink? Probably not! Nicki, (as her fans call her) is a highly successful America-based rapper. She’s also had some success from her acting, songwriting, and modeling career.
Nicki has such a massive love for music, however, a tour of her garage shows she loves cars as well. Among her fleet of cars is modified Lamborghini Aventador. Nicki employed the services of West Coast Wrappers for the modification done on her Lambo.
3 Patrick Dempsey – 1982 Porsche 911SC
Patrick Dempsey is well known all over the world for his acting roles in several chart-topping box office hits as well as his role in the highly successful medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy. However, Dempsey is also a racecar driver and a massive motorsports enthusiast.
His love for cars and racing is so massive he once declared he could leave acting for motorsports. Dempsey, for his love for performance cars, has a souped-up 1982 Porsche 911SC among his fleets of exotic sports cars.
2 Dax Shepard – 1967 Lincoln Continental
Dax Shepard really shouldn’t need too much of an introduction as we must have seen him in an episode or two of the popular reality TV show, Punk’d. Also, he’s featured, written and directed several movies and series.
On the other hand, Shepard made this list because of a classy vintage car found among his fleet of cars – a custom 1967 Lincoln Continental. Shepard’s car has been modified with modern features such as cruise control, power seat belts, and an adjustable steering wheel.
1 Ralph Lauren – 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi”
The 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK is some stuff of automobile legends – it has a rich and iconic history. The engineering of the SSK was among the last duties of Dr. Ferdinard Porsche before he left Mercedes to start his own automobile company, Porsche.
Only about 30 units of this car were built, however, this here had a special body built for it by its former owner, Count Trossi. Ralph Lauren later acquired it and got Paul Russell to do the restoration.
