There's no greater financial nightmare than a used car with a questionable history. Worst still, that questionable history could lead to a money pit of a disaster and send you down the rabbit hole of buyers remorse. So, nobody in their right minds would ever try to tackle such a project. Well, nobody except for three particular guys who went out and bought the cheapest possible Ferraris. Welcome to Car Trek 4.

Car Trek Is Back For More Chaos

Tavarish and the boys are back for another road trip with Auto Tempest once again as their backing sponsor.  They've covered supercars, grand touring coupes doubling as supercars, and lavish luxury barges. For their fourth series, they've decided to cover the most desirable nameplate in the business: Ferrari.

The first episode released today, with Tavarish breaking down the argument that you simply could not afford a Ferrari because they're so expensive. But it's not impossible as demonstrated by the used-car veterans. And it all goes hilariously wrong  which begins at the 18:52 mark.

Another Flood Title Survivor

Ed Bolian is known for giving cars a second chance once they've weathered some sort of natural disaster. This is not the first supercar he's adopted with a flood title. Unlike the Gallardo, the gray 599 GTB Fiorano comes with a huge caveat as part of the budget restriction for Car Trek 4.

The flood-title Ferrari was paid with forty grand out of pocket, but the rest of the cost by trading in a rare Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster, thus taking possession of a decade-old 599 that once charged north of $350,000 to use as viable content for YouTube. To nobody's surprise, the gauges don't work and a bad sensor requires changing out the Italian leather seat in order to fix the airbag sensor. By comparison, the others are sane.

How Much Work Do They Really Need?

Other Ferraris in the running are the red 1978 308 GTB (Tavarish) and a 1994 V-12-powered 456 GT driven by Tyler Hoover. They stayed in a similar budget of about forty grand with no trade-in necessary and actually lucked out a bit post-inspection.

Bolian's 599 needs $16,000 worth of work done. Tavarish's ancient Ferrari billed a little less at $14,000, after buying the car for thirty. But the outright winner is Tyler whose manual-equipped Ferrari imported from Dubai needed just $800 of maintenance. It appears that once again, Hoovies Garage has made the most sensible choice. Or maybe he just lucked out. This is still Car Trek where anything can go wrong.

We'll know more as the series plays out.
