As far as good-looking muscle cars go, Dodge is among the highest-ranking of them all; Ford, Chevy, and Plymouth combined. Ever since the mid-1960s, Dodge has pioneered the way forward for generations of American sports cars to come, most notably with their beloved classic: the Charger.

The Charger's history is a decisive one, to say the least. As far back as its creation (till now), some have disliked Dodge's approach to the car's styling. Namely, the shift from the 1970 body to a new one and (of course) transition to a sedan-only chassis. Nevertheless, the Charger is still an outstanding muscle car, even if it had some 'off days,' so to speak.

If you want to see exactly what we're talking about, what better way to show-off Dodge's manufacturing skill than through customer testimonials; modified Chargers that give Dodge the clear win...

10 Peter Sagan's 1970 Dodge Charger

CyclingTips

When you're a world champion cyclist, you've probably got some cash to spare. The best possible thing you could do with it is what Peter Sagan did: restomod a 1970's Dodge Charger R/T. With a gigantic blower sticking out of the bonnet, passersby can immediately tell that this particular Charger means business! Well, that and the extremely loud exhaust, coupled with high speeds.

9 NASCAR K&K Dodge Charger Daytona

More often than not, the best modifications are done by the professionals. Not just any mechanic or specialist, though, but a motorsports engineer. In the golden-age of NASCAR, the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona was a guinea pig for said designers.

What we got, as a result, is easily the greatest Dodge Charger of all time (dare we say, greatest muscle car of all time?). This car went on to take titles, kick butt, and cement itself into racing history. Whether it was the K&K Daytona or Richard Petty's Daytona, you could be sure that it'd always cross the finish line!

8 Gas Monkey Garage's 1967 Dodge Charger Restomod

Yahoo

OK, we get it, not everybody loves the pre-1968 Dodge Chargers. It's an understandable sentiment, since the later years were clearly more popular. However, with just the right amount of upgrades, it can be a whole new car! Case and point, Gas Monkey Garage's 1967 restomod Charger.

Not all those who see it will know it's a Charger, but it'll drive like one, nonetheless. And, since it's Gas Monkey Garage's, you already know this '67 Charger is packing some serious heat under the hood.

7 2019 Pikes Peak Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody

Motor Authority

In 2019, multiple performance car-part manufacturers came together with Dodge to aid in their prototype for the upcoming 2020 models. The task ahead was the notorious Pikes Peak hill-climb event; a dangerous yet scenic road course.

Beyond the camouflage wrap, this unique hill-climb Charger had a custom Bilstein suspension/struts, non-street-legal exterior (& interior mods), and so much more. Using everything in its arsenal, the prototype ripped through the track; showing the world why it's the fastest sedan out there.

6 Custom 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona Tribute

Hot Rod Hotline

Earlier, we mentioned the NASCAR-spec Dodge Charger Daytonas, though, track-exclusive Daytonas aren't the ONLY noteworthy iterations. Don't discount the road-going Daytona's, because they were really something!

The Daytona is more than "just a modified Charger with a body-kit." No, it's a legend that's managed to withstand the test of time, both literally and figuratively.

5 Dodge Charger Hellcat 'Archangel'

autoevolution

Next up is a custom Charger, the Hellcat 'Archangel.' Coated in bright white paint and elegant curves, you can see how it gets its name. Though, like archangels, it has a deadly side. With a wider body, performance suspension, and a high-grade tune, the Archangel will definitely crush any muscle car that opposes it!

4 1968 Dodge Charger 'Maximus'

Rod Authority

Look familiar, Fast and Furious fans? Well, it should, since this was Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) 1968 Charger from Furious 7; also known as 'Maximus.' Believe it or not, the Maximus has one absolute unit of an engine: a twin-turbocharged 9.4-liter Hemi V8. Yes, 9.4-liters...

"What would possibly mandate an engine that large?" you may ask. Well, quite simply, to get as much power as possible. Thanks to the forced-induction and 9+ liters, the Maximus can pump out ~2,250-hp. Today, the Maximus from Furious 7 has a new owner; only cost him $1.7 million...

3 SpeedKore Dodge Charger AWD

Motor Authority

The idea of an all-wheel-drive Dodge Charger is a novel one. Most would see it as a better (safer) commuter car, while others imagine its potential as a 'street demon.' SpeedKore belongs to the latter, as evidenced by their wickedly fast AWD Dodge Charger!

It's powered by a state-of-the-art V8 Demon engine, but not your normal one. SpeedKore removed the supercharger and swapped it with twin-turbos to get the highest amount of power/boost as possible. The result is 1,525-hp to all four wheels, which'll certainly break some necks.

2 Todd Fullford's 2017 Dodge Charger Hellcat

Hot Rod Network

Whoever said that 'bagging a muscle car wouldn't look good' clearly needs to take another look, because Todd Fullford thwarted all of that nonsense three-years ago with his slammed Charger Hellcat! Not much was done to the engine (besides basic mods like exhaust, fuel injectors, etc.), though, nothing needed to be. At the end of the day, bagging it would've been enough (in our opinion).

1 Ringbrothers’ 1969 Dodge Charger R/T ‘Defector’

Engine Swap Depot

Ringbrothers are a legend in the American muscle car community, as well as car culture as a whole. Though it's no surprise they're held in such high regard, especially when you have vehicles like their '69 Dodge Charger R/T 'Defector.'

The only thing this Charger is defecting from is the rest of the competition. That's to say, no one will be able to keep up. A brand new 6.4-liter Hemi V8, modern performance parts, and extreme weight reduction make sure of that. The Defector made its first appearance at SEMA in 2017.
