Before reading this article we suggest you get the sick bucket ready. Because some of the cars you're about to see in this list are painfully ugly and will send chills down your spine. Or, maybe not. After all, aesthetics are the most subjective thing about a car, so unfortunately there's no right or wrong answer.

However, we believe that sports cars are an embodiment of beauty and performance in one. After all, when you buy something that will nearly send you to bankruptcy, it better shows its price to the people. We're talking about the sleek, curvy designs that fool us every once in a while. The sports cars on this list, on the other hand, cannot be taken seriously, regardless of their performance. And believe us, everyone will question why you'd spend money on such a creature. So, without further ado...

10 Panoz Abruzzi

UGH. Look at it. Doesn't this car scare the hell out of you? Released in 2010, the Abruzzi or otherwise called "Spirit of Le Mans" is a front-engine sports car powered by a 600 plus HP Engine. Although the Abruzzi has questionable looks, it still manages to offer performance like no other car.

After all, it is the first car to ever implement the R.E.A.M.S-Recyclable Energy Absorbing Matrix System- which not only gives you a ride to remember for life, but also offers environmental advantages. We hate it so much, but we cannot help but wonder how it is to drive this scary beast.

An alien spaceship? A weird machine that travels through time? Well, this creature can be anything but a car. So, we thought. Unfortunately, we were wrong. The bizarre-looking creature was built by Yamaha, due to their involvement in Formula 1 back in 1991.

Sadly, there are still people who would drive this thing, which is why it was detuned for road use. As such, it kicked out 400 horsepower, reaching 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. If you're willing to sacrifice your image as a rational human being, for speed, go ahead. But we'd rather suggest you not.

8 Mosler Consulier GTP

There are some automakers in the American automotive history, such as Hudson, Hummer, Oldsmobile, Plymouth and Pontiac that make us wonder why they failed. The Mosler Automotive doesn't. After all, when you design a car like this, no wonder people aren't going to buy it.

After years of trying to succeed, in 1993 the car was renamed to Mosler Intruder and had an upgraded engine, a Chevy LT1 V8 that kicked out 300 horsepower. Even then, their engineering was hardly a success or groundbreaking, but at least they weren't long gone and forgotten like they are now. Hopefully.

7 Plymouth Prowler

Many people believe the reason the Prowler has failed is because of its powertrains. See, the Prowler had a V6 engine in a body that screamed for a V8. Had the Prowler feature a better engine, it would still be remembered. Unfortunately, we don't believe that.  No way a car built like this could ever succeed.

We're not purists-don't get it wrong. But, that's the problem with the automotive industry lately. Some automakers try too hard not to be conventional, but end up creating a disaster. The Prowler should've been just a research project, and never make it to production.

6 Mitsuoka Orochi

The Orochi gets even funnier when you find out this car was Japan's answer to Ferrari. If only they knew. Shown as a concept in 2001, and launched in 2006, the Orochi retired from the automotive industry in 2014. For that, we can be thankful. If other cars on this list had absolutely gruesome looks, at least they were fast. The Orochi is just plain ugly. It only kicked out 233 horsepower, and it handles as bad as it looks.

Mitsuoka automakers tried to create a stylish, fashionable car that will gather all the attention. We're not sure about the stylish part, but we're pretty sure it's attention-seeking. And as we've learned for so many years, attention can backfire, and this car is the living proof of that.

5 Isdera Imperator 108i

via autogespot.com

Isdera was a little known German automaker, and until it launched its sports car called Imperator 108i in 1984, people became aware of its existence. The Isdera had a strong performance, futuristic looks, and great engineering. Many people compared it to the Lamborghini Countach and the later Vector W8.

Back in the day, this was one of the rarest cars ever, but despite its futuristic looks the mechanics or engineering of this car was nothing future-like. At first, it featured a standard 5-liter V8 with only 235 horsepower, and later a more powerful V8 with 300 horsepower was available. However, speed alone doesn't sell. And the only thing Isdera made people do is pray that the future doesn't look like the Imperator.

4 Lamborghini Egoista

via 1cars.org

Lamborghini is known for always taking a step further, but the Egoista is a step we wish they didn't take. In fact, the car looks remarkably similar to the Abruzzi, but richer. It has the same scary front end, and all the weird geometrical shaped no one ever asked for.

However, the Egoista as explained by Lamborghini designers was made with passion, not with their head. Apparently it is designed only for the extreme people of this world who only want the most sophisticated things. Glad to know, we're not those people.

3 Eliica

This car has eight wheels, 800 horsepower and doesn't run on gasoline. We're not sure how the designing or engineering process of the Eliica went. Because it seems like you need to be on substances to think of something like this. After all, we have to congratulate them for the idea it represents.

Otherwise, the Eliica makes it painful to even look at it. Let alone be in one. All that considered, the Eliica still operates in high environmental safety standards and is faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo. But then again, it's five meters long, so we're not sure how cornering or handling would work in this weird 8-wheels creature.

Who even names their car Gumpert? Never mind the name, if you're not scared by its looks yet, yet let us tell you about how it works. When the Gumpert was launched, it was the fastest point-to-point car in the world. It reached 60 mph in only three seconds and it had 700 horsepower.

A racing car for the road, that's how the Gumpert was called. And for the people who have a taste for the supreme track-day cars, it's a great choice. Not so expensive, with glamorous performance and speed, but with unfortunate looks.

1 GDT Speedster

via drivetribe.com

Autoweek described the GDT Speedster as "not your father's Corvette." Well, thanks God. We cannot imagine having fathers that would drive a car like this. We're fine with the Chevrolet Corvettes of the world, thanks. Jokes aside, the GDT Speedster is a home-built car based on the 1994 Corvette, with 300 horsepower and a four-speed automatic transmission.

Although this car is great for cruising, there's not much difference between driving a C4 Corvette, and the GDT Speedster. At least, when you're driving the Corvette you're driving something that the world knows and loves. After all, most Corvettes are stunning compared to this bizarre creature GDT engineers like to call "sports car."
