The Cadillac CT4 is a compact luxury sedan launched in the United States back in 2020. Being a replacement for the aging Cadillac ATS, it became an instant hit among the folks who wanted a luxurious daily driver with great looks and impressive performance to rival European offerings. Based on the same first generation of the CT4, Cadillac is back with the 2022 avatar.

The 2022 Cadillac CT4 is offered in four trim configurations and at a base MSRP of $33,695. This American luxury car manufacturer has provided quite a long list of upgrades to this 2022 model in the form of multiple optional packages and more interior, infotainment, and driver-assistance techs as standard. However, both the engine options are unchanged. Competing with the Acura Integra, Audi A3, and BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe, here are 10 things you need to know before buying the 2022 Cadillac CT4.

The 2022 Cadillac CT4 takes forward the bold design language of the outgoing model and the car never looks and feels dated. Being a compact luxury sedan, the CT4 looks perfect from all angles with clean and sharp lines, beautiful signature vertical headlights, LED taillights, and a sharp bumper design.

Get the CT4-V or the CT4-V Blackwing models, and it looks much sportier than the regular trim configurations. The blacked-out elements, wide tires, and an integrated spoiler add to the appeal of this moniker. The eight exterior colors gel well with the aerodynamic design of the CT4 and there is quite a long list of optional extras for the exterior as well.

The base engine that is offered with the 2022 Cadillac CT4 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 producing 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The CT4 is one of very few offerings in the segment with a RWD setup.

This turbocharged engine coupled with the 8-speed automatic makes for a comfortable driving experience. It is reasonably fast too, with a 0-60 mph time of 6.2 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 14.6 seconds. However, the Genesis G70 managed to punch out a slightly better 0-60 mph time of 6.1 seconds.

8 Rear Seat Is A Bit Tight For Three Passengers

Being a 5-seater compact luxury sedan, we expected the 2022 Cadillac CT4 to come out with similar cabin space to that of the BMW 3 Series and Genesis G70. However, the rear seat space is going to disappoint family buyers. The headroom of 36.5" and legroom of 33.4" offered to the rear seat make it feel quite restricted.

The cargo capacity of 10.7 cu ft isn't the best and the loading lip for the boot is fairly high as well. However, the front row has superb space all-around and the seats are very comfortable. They are leather-wrapped as well. There is also enough storage space inside the cabin, helping to store all the knick-knacks.

7 Classy Looking Cabin

Like the exterior design, the interior of the 2022 Cadillac CT4 stands out from any other monikers offered at this price point. The dual-tone color combination in the cabin with subtle colors gives it adequate premium feel and the leather upholstery with heated and ventilated front seats with massage functionality as standard is something that you do not see in the segment.

The 12" digital gauge cluster and the 8" touchscreen infotainment screen are positioned perfectly, and the aluminum and silver accents on the center console and door cards uplift the design well. However, the interior quality isn't up to the standards of the Bimmers and Mercedes-Benz models of the segment.

6 Gets The 8" CUE Infotainment System

The Cadillac User Experience touchscreen infotainment system with an 8" display is carried forward from the older models of the CT4. This is a feature-packed infotainment system and offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, 12" digital gauge, connected apps, and voice recognition.

The clean and uncluttered interface and the impressive features list are a plus point of the CT4. However, the rivals offer bigger infotainment displays. The audio is handled by an 8-speaker audio system as standard. If you want an even better audio experience, Cadillac also offers a 14-speaker Bose audio system as an optional extra.

The braking is handled by 11.8" front rotors and 12.4" rear rotors and there is also a host of advanced features, all of which make the braking quite effortless in the 2022 Cadillac CT4. The curb weight of 3,422 lbs is lower than the rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz C300 and Genesis G70 too.

The 60-0 mph braking could be done about 123 feet, putting it in the same ballpark as all the other segment rivals. The braking features such as ABS with EBD, brake assist, electronic parking brake, and automated emergency braking are standard for all the trims. If you get the CT4-V Blackwing, the braking performance is even better due to the upgraded rotors and brake pads.

If you get the base 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine, the fuel efficiency is not going to disappoint you one bit. With 23 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highways, the 2022 Cadillac CT4 offered a combined gas mileage of 27 mpg. This turned out to be much better than the 25 MPG combined of the Lexus IS 300.

With a fuel tank capacity of 17 gallons, the 2022 Cadillac CT4 could do a best-in-class combined tank range of 459 miles. However, if you get the Cadillac CT4-V which comes with the 2.7-liter engine, you are looking at a lower combined gas mileage of 23 MPG.
