Even with a heavy curb weight of 4,105 lbs and smaller brake rotors than some of the segment rivals, the 2022 Volvo XC60 managed to stop from high speeds with no issues. The 70-0 MPH braking could be done in 165 feet and all the trims also come with a regenerative braking system as standard.

The XC60 retains the same braking hardware as the older model years with 13.6" front rotors and 12.6" rear rotors. Get the FWD model with the B5 engine and the 2022 Volvo XC60 offers a decent gas mileage of 22 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. However, the more powerful B6 engine returns a slightly lower 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. Both of these engines come with a mild-hybrid assist as well.

However, if you get the most powerful T8 plug-in hybrid variant, it offers 63 MPGe combined. For the 2022 model year, the XC60 Recharge gets a bigger battery pack and can do a superior electric-only range of 35 miles. It can be charged in public charging stations and at home as well. The 0-60 MPH comes in 5 seconds and the quarter-mile takes 13.6 seconds. The dual electric motors also help in giving out instant torque at the lower rev range, making it an excellent city commuter. However, the B6 comes with both turbocharger and supercharger on the same engine block, giving out an output of 296 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Coming with the same T8 powertrain as the lower Recharge trims, albeit in a superior 455 hp and 523 lb-ft tune, it is going to be a hoot to drive out on the open roads.

The 0-60 MPH comes in just 4.2 seconds and the quarter-mile mark is reached in 12.6 seconds at 111 MPH. The acceleration numbers and performance are up there with the best of the segment. However, the Porsche Macan turned out to be more powerful than the XC60 Recharge Polestar Engineered, even though it misses out on the plug-in hybrid system.

The front row offers top-notch headroom, legroom, and shoulder room, even for the taller folks. The rear row is pretty spacious too. There were many storage spaces on offer inside the cabin as well. In terms of cargo space, the 2022 XC60 offered 17.8 cu ft. However, the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 turned out to be better in this regard.
