There is a lot to love about the modern generation of pickup trucks. They are some of the most rugged machines on earth, able to carry heavy loads and often over some of the toughest terrains, especially those from Chevrolet. They can do this while providing a level of comfort that even some station wagons or sedans can’t achieve. However, there are some out there who feel that the modern breed of trucks is perhaps, a bit tame. So, the Roadster Shop has given a walkthrough of their Legends C10, a classic Chevrolet pickup restomod that reminds us of why sometimes a back-to-basics approach is best.

Why Roadster Shop Created The Legends Truck

Why did the guys create this truck? Phil and Jeremy talk us through the truck and talk about how it was born out of the softness and the overly techy way in which modern pickups have gone. Everything, they say, is all automatic. The bit of tech that pushed them over the line was the trailer assist, which allows a truck to back onto a trailer automatically. "That's it," they said, wanting to create what they call "a man's truck."

They took their love of old trucks and grouped it into one. This is one of the best restomods that you can probably find. Underneath the exterior is a modern GM suspension, which has then been adapted to a Roadster Shop chassis. Power is provided by an LT4 crate engine, which is the same motor that comes in a Corvette ZR1. So you get plenty of muscle car horsepower, and on the face of it, you would have no idea that’s what is powering this truck along. That engine produces 650 hp, and that is driven to the wheels via an eight-speed heavy-duty transmission.

A Smooth Cross-Country Driving Experience

With all of that power, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this is such a missile you wouldn’t be able to drive it cross-country. But that’s the beauty of the legends truck, you can very much do that in plenty of comforts, while having all of that power to play with whenever you feel like it. Classic trucks certainly do have a timeless appeal, and combining that with some of the best modern techniques makes this truck a joy to drive.
