Few cars evolved from middle-of-the-road sedan status to big-time muscle car like the Chevrolet Nova. Originally designed in 1962 as an economy commuter car, the Nova—like its celestial namesake—burst into greater prominence in 1968 as one tough gearhead fave, challenging the supremacy of such counterparts as the Mustang and the Challenger in the process. It's little wonder why Venezuelan digital artist Emmanuel Brito chose this third-generation version of the Nova legacy to play with. But his rendering, posted Tuesday on Instagram, reveals he found plenty of areas on the venerable Nova to accentuate, converting it into one boss ride.

Chevy Rendering Goes Widebody

One big advantage of providing a widebody treatment to a digital rendering is that you get to play around with the vehicle's contours. Brito performs that task beautifully, especially when he adds more definition to the side panels bordering the wheel wells. A raised spot on the hood indicates this Nova is turbo-friendly, while the addition of a rear spoiler offers an invitation to other muscle cars to take on this redesign on the strip.

The neatest looking design exists on the wheels, where the spokes receive a distorted honeycomb treatment. Just as surreal is his take on the headlights, with two LED bulbs inside each housing creates an alien vibe to this rendering.

Once Brito posted his work, he issued a challenge to his nearly 7,500 followers. "I think the pictures say it all, this machine will be a beast on the streets!" he wrote. "What do you think?"

Normally, on social media, trolls would trash the results. But after nearly a day online, responses tilt heavily towards the positive. "Superb build," commented one viewer. "It’s very unique. The colors, the pipes. Deadly lil' hot rod, man."

"Love this rendering," added another. "Always wanted to see a widebody Nova. Now I want to do mine to match."

Muscle Cars A Fave Subject

Brito's Nova upgrade is synonymous with other muscular Detroit vehicles he's rendered the past few years. Other muscle cars receiving the Brito treatment include the Mustang, Camaro, and even the humble Chevelle. He's since expanded his vision to trucks, including outrageous renderings of a Chevy C10, Toyota Tacoma, and a Ford F150, many of them seeing new virtual life as road huggers with inverted, sloped front ends.
