After kitting out the Dodge Ram with both a gnarly engine and a turbocharger, it can deliver a whopping 1,100 horsepower. This epic 1998 Dodge Ram does not have its original mechanics anymore. Otherwise, it simply would not be able to churn out four digits worth of horsepower.
The big blue Ram features an immense 5.9-liter engine that boasts an impressive compound turbo. A compound turbo, for anyone who doesn't already know, is a turbocharger that feeds into another turbocharger. Hence, it is capable of pushing the boost into triple digits.
As a result, this engine and new turbocharger setup can churn out 1,100 horsepower and 1,800 ft-lbs of torque at 100 PSI of boost. This ride is pretty mean and capable without the added extras. Hence, it becomes quite a beast once the new engine and charger are under its hood.
The Sound Matches The Upgrades On The Pickup Truck
Seeing as the 1998 Dodge Ram features many new upgrades (a very long list of them, in fact), many would hope that its sound matches these immense new engine and turbo upgrades. Luckily, it does.
The team says it sounds like a really aggressive school bus. It purrs gently when sitting stationery, but when its wheels are spinning around the track, it is a different story. Once the accelerator is down and the driver tests the Ram's limits, the sound is enough to blow anyone away.
