Shawn Davis of AutotopiaLA regularly features some truly epic cars on his YouTube channel. These range from faithful restorations, to incredible restomods and EV conversions. This car, however, is an absolute monster. It is a 1993 Ford Cobra Fox Body Mustang, and it is packing some 1,700 hp under the hood. It is a drag monster that can challenge the very best down the 1/4-mile. And the best thing is that this epic car has only got 30,000 original miles on the clock.

Examining The Mustang In Detail

The car belongs to Eddie of Addiction Motorsports, and was originally under the ownership of his buddy Nino. The car is at the Famosa Drag Strip. This is a genuine Cobra Fox Body Mustang, and this car has undergone quite a few iterations before Nino settled on this style. Under the hood of this epic Mustang is a 4.6-liter dual-cam motor, a genuine Cobra motor, with a stock block and a billet crank. So, there is still the heart of the original Cobra there. It now runs on E90, and it has a single Precision XPR 94 mm turbo on it.

Plenty Of Cobra Power

This incredible Cobra makes 1,700 hp. A fact that left Davis pretty much speechless. A lot of the bodywork is still stock too, such as the fenders, doors, and the glass in the windows. In its particular class, this car is as heavy as it gets. Even the dash is stock, and it weighs around 3,250 lbs without the driver. So, it certainly isn’t light, but all the power windows etc. still work. Inside, the intercooler is right behind the driver and the interior as a whole is stunning. Davis remarks just how immaculate the car is, inside and out.

When it comes to transmission, this Mustang has a two-speed power glide transmission, controlled by the FuelTech FT500, so the car will shift automatically down the drag strip. And Eddie says you really do need both hands on the wheel with this car! The video also shows this monster tearing up the drag strip, although on the first pass it simply spun its tires too much. When the car did finally get a pass in though, it looked pretty spectacular, and it made an epic sound as it blasted down the 1/4-mile.
