The upcoming Mecum event in Indianapolis will feature the Impulse, a highly customized 1968 Chevrolet Camaro. The Camaro was built by Bonnell's Rod Shop in Fairview, Pennsylvania and captured a first-place award at the 2016 World of Wheels-Pittsburgh.

Along with its success at the Pittsburgh show, the highly customized Camaro was featured by paint company PPG to display in its SEMA Show booth in 2015. The Bonnell’s crew has said that it “left no panel untouched” during the creation of the race-inspired Camaro, with the classic F-body envelope radically changed with the top chopped four inches, the wheels raised and shortened the overall length of the car by seven inches.

Even in doing the modifications, the overall shape of the car is still unmistakably the classic Camaro. Upon the completion of the metal work, Bonnell coated the Camaro in PPG’s Envirobase Impulse Yellow with New Vibrance clearcoat, which strongly brought out the shine.

The Camaro has a 360 CI small block Chevrolet engine with eight stack fuel system and a Holly EFI management system that ensures proper fuel distribution for the motor. The massive cowl-induction hood bulge sweeps up from the leading edge of the car to the eight FI stacks that sit on top of the Chevy small block.

It has a FAB 9 inch rear end hung on a four-link suspension system, Martz full tube chassis, 4-link suspension and 13-inch Wilwood disc brakes. The car is also fitted with a custom exhaust and Forgeline Grudge wheels. Part of the fully custom front fascia features Rigid Industries off-road headlights, with 175 LED lights embedded into the grille, with the effect is a wall of bright white light when they are switched on. The rear panel has Digi-Tails LED tail lamps fitted in the modified panel, and under the body is a Martz full-tube chassis. Finally, Thompson tires are mounted on 20-inch Forgeline Grudge wheels, with the Wilwood brakes behind them.
