In the history of car releases, you’d be hard-pressed to find one so hyped up as the 2021 Ford Bronco. It's been covered by the likes of Doug DeMuro already and sold as fast as any supercar when it went on sale. Plus, extra variants such as the Bronco Sport added to the popularity. Modifying the Bronco was probably going to happen sooner rather than later. And tuning specialists Vivid Racing have unveiled possibly one of the first modifications to the Bronco Sport 2.0 EcoBoost to give the SUV a little more horsepower.

ECU Flash Allows For More Performance From The Bronco Sport

Based in Arizona, the tuning company has provided an ECU flash and tune to gain more performance from the engine. This sees the Bronco Sport’s output increase from the top standard output of 250 to 305 hp, all thanks to a sweet and simple engine remap. Vivid Racing state that the biggest difference customers will see is an improvement of the power curve on the Bronco, and that there will be a much better throttle response all the way to the redline.

Plus, Vivid Racing also says that the newly flashed Bronco Sport will pick up right away and will pull much harder through the mid and top end of its RPM range. They provide some numbers as well as the advantages of their tune following dyno runs. Stock, they rated the Bronco Sport at 250 hp and 275ft-lbs of torque. Following their tune, they saw a gain of 55 hp to 305 hp and an extra 75 ft-lb of torque to 350ft-lbs.

Wheel Horsepower Ratings Are Very Impressive

The wheel-horsepower ratings were also very impressive. From stock, Vivid rated the Bronco at 186 whp and 246 ft-lbs of torque. Following the tune, there was a gain of 36 whp and 54 ft-lbs of torque that saw the Bronco rated at 222 whp and 300 ft-lbs of torque.

The cost of the tuning of your Bronco Sport will set you back $600, and Vivid Racing asks you to ship your ECU to them for them to work their magic. However, Vivid Racing points out that “This product is for Racing Competition only and is not legal for use in highway or street vehicles or other non-racing competition off-road vehicles,” so be sure that you want the upgrade before making your purchase.
