One of the more recent trends in the automotive world is the desire for small pickup trucks. Trucks like the highly anticipated upcoming Ford Maverick small pickup, which sits below even the Ranger can in theory fill a niche that has been empty for more than two decades. However, for some people the Maverick is not small or fuel efficient enough. When that is the case, some creativity and power tools can make what may be the smallest (and most ridiculous) pickup ever. That is what YouTuber Ginger Billy decided to do when he cut into his Ford Festiva hatchback to turn it into one of the smallest pickup trucks ever.

This Festiva Makes The Most Adorable Dually Truck

YouTuber Ginger Billy is no stranger to bringing power tools and saws to older vehicles to turn them into something new. Having previously turned a Ford Windstar minivan into a pickup too, his newest "truck" is both funny to see and, in theory, brilliant.

What started life as a Ford Festiva subcompact has been transformed into a "dually" minitruck, complete with tow mirrors that reach out of the lane and a makeshift trailer. He decribed the "truck" as "the heart of a Ferrari, the gas tank of a Prius, and the butt of an F350." Altogether, the build works in a way, solving a problem that many people have never had or thought of.

The Festiva Has Duallies For "Hauling"

While a normal Festiva rides on 12 inch very skinny wheels and tires, this modified one actually does ride on two wheels per side. Sticking out well past the sides of the car, these wheels do actually add stability, but with the front drive layout do very little other than that. While the wheels stick out far from the body, they are still much closer than the absolutely massive tow mirrors which stick out well over two feet from each side of the car.

The Festiva Pickup Can Almost Do What Pickups Do

To make sure the Festiva could tow like most trucks, Ginger Billy created his own gooseneck hitch for the car out of PVC piping. The hitch, mounted to the rear bumper of the minitruck, extended out nearly the length of the Festiva in order to mount with the small wagon behind it. While ridiculous, this Festiva does look like a ton of fun to drive around town while getting 50 mpg.
