We all know that the Lamborghini Aventador is bowing out. The final model of the iconic supercar was, of course, launched in June 2021, with the Aventador Ultimae limited edition bringing the curtain down on one of Lamborghini’s greatest modern cars. But what of its successor? Well, thanks to these spy shots from our sister site TopSpeed and Amreetam Basu, we’ve got a bit of a look at the potential successor to the Aventador while it is out on test.

Checking Out The Spy Shots

Despite the fact that this Lamborghini is in camouflage livery, it is easily recognizable as a Lamborghini. And the spaceship style looks for the car that the Lamborghini CEO has promised are certainly there. The design of the new car is incredibly angular, and that ties in with the awesome looking Sian that Lamborghini gave us a couple of years ago.

The headlights here are dummy units, but expect these to also be similar to that of the Sian. This will not be a copycat version of the first hybrid Lamborghini, as there is an all-new design, powertrain and most likely a new platform coming for the new car.

If we look down the side of the car, there are a lot of similarities to the outgoing Aventador. The side intake vents and the roofline of the car are quite similar to the Aventador. But as TopSpeed notes, the dimensions of this car are looking like they might be a bit longer than that of the Aventador.

The wheel design is certainly new, but also it is perhaps expected that this is some form of prototype design, and there is no Lamborghini badge in the middle of the wheels either. It is at the back though where there are lots of interesting details.

The upper portion of the rear shows Y-shaped LED taillights, and higher placed quad-exhaust tips as well. Plus, there is a wedge-shape design for increased airflow on the rear bumper. This car is also expected to be a hybrid, and the warning sticker above the left exhaust tips indicates that.

TopSpeed say that a newly developed V12 engine will be at the heart of the car, producing probably around 800 hp without the hybrid element. We don’t expect to see the successor to the Aventador debut until 2023, but we can expect a lot more spy shots of it before we get the official reveal.
